Dude, their TVs sucked.
disagree
picture quality is subjective and also needs proper calibration and so forth
the main thing is they last forever
Right, because I would never think to play with the settings, adjust for my personal preferences, check the menus etc as part of demo'ing a TV. C'mon man...this isn't the comment section at CNET. I am pretty sure everyone here knows that and would investigate all of the various settings etc when shopping for a TV. Picture quality is subjective to a certain degree, yes.....but this wasn't even close. Particularly on the TVs in the 32"-46" range. On the larger screens it got much better, but then the price difference got more outlandish.
As for their durability...I spent a month researching TVs, I couldn't find anything that supports an argument that ANY modern TV brand lasts any longer then another brand. Probably because none of these companies build anything that is meant to last to long. Can't sell you another one if you are still using the same TV 10 years on.
If you own a Sony TV and you are happy with what you got for the price, grats. All I am saying is that what I saw on the shelves over the last year was not impressive at all and overpriced. I expect Sony to bring more to the table.
