I have to ask this seriously though, have you even played Diablo 1 or 2, or any other ARPG? Complaining about Diablo being simplified is like complaining that rocks are dense. In the history of computer gaming there hasn't ever been a game series more simplified than Diablo. To be fair, yes Diablo was always on the simple side, With Diablo 2 however they at least expanded the classes, gave very distinct skill trees that allowed for many different builds of the same type of class. Honestly I don't see that is even possible here. I realize it's a beta and stuff is locked but it almost looks like you only have 4 skills a class, with a defensive skill tossed in here or there for good measure, things that were previously attack skills using D2 as the example. Like the Wizard gets a frost nova as a defensive skill and it appears to do no damage just freezes enemies.
I realize they had to further simplify the game for the consoles, I get that, but what's here, at least in this beta is so simplified to the point that I'm amazed it took them this long to get this game out the door.
Considering work on Diablo 3 originally started in 2000, it makes one wonder just how many times this project was rebooted between their shift to WoW development and the closure of Blizzard North in 2005. Hell I wonder if any of those Condor folks who pitched Diablo 1 in the first place are even still at Blizzard at this point. |

Been reading a lot of comments and forums, since previously I hadn't been able to play or get an invite. I loaded the BETA loader and went to bed after it stuck at 10% for about 20 minutes. That was at 0800 this AM. I hope I get to try it this weekend, but I am still confused as to why this is a $60.00 game.
It is my understanding this is going to be a heavy microtransaction game....so why the $60 tag? I know I will own the game at some point...but it will have to be discounted pretty heavily for me to buy it.
Still play D2, Torchlight, Titan Quest, etc. |

The hype around this game still boggles the mind... Agreed...we waited how long for this thing? It looks so dated and it feels like a step backward, not forward.
I am grateful Blizzard is giving me the chance to play for free however; it will save me any impulse purchase I might have had otherwise.
Next up: Guild Wars 2 beta weekend in a week. Let's hope it is better |

The hardest thing for me is that this game is $60 and games playing very similar are much less. I had good fps but there is some micro-stutter, which does bother me. 2 camera angles, only one good one. They added a bit of destructible envrios and some traps for enemies, is the later even needed?
As with most of these games, they start out stupid easy. I don't know, Bliz takes so long, they do something like Legend of Grimrock, update graphically an old forumla, because it's been sooo long. If they made one every few years, they could be advancing a bit more in game depth imo.
Bottom line, why is theirs worth $60 over the competition other then name? |

The hype around this game still boggles the mind... Agreed, it's diablo 2 all over again with slightly better graphics and an auction house with people trying to sell mundane white items for 500k gold.
Not only that but no longer can you build a character with stats, that's removed, and skills are unlocked for you as you go along, limited to a couple damage skills active at once? So much for skill trees and different builds. No lets just streamline it down so the masses of below level intelligence won't have to work for a decent set up.
Why does anyone still give a fuck about Blizzard? I just fail to understand. Your comment fits, well, your comment, pretty well... Is this really the first time you've heard about the game?
I'm all for varied opinions... But this is like me talking about how bad hockey is, because of blah blah blah - I don't know anything about hockey ; )
-Alamar Why would I follow development on a game I don't really care about? Though I was a little shocked to see just how immensely streamlined it is to the point of ridiculousness. As for hockey, shut your whore mouth. Hockey is awesome. |

Um yeah, I work 45 hours a week sometimes more, that doesn't mean I need my hand held when playing an RPG. Some of us do like to use our brains during downtime. It does seem rather mindless, yeah.
Shame on the people who are excited about the online auction house. It means Blizzard got you right where they want you through shear manipulation. Let me break it to you: The online AH is NOTHING but a way of making the game pirate-proof by needing to be online all the fucking time and get away with it. Where at other games who pull the online crapjoke people moan "I'm a soldat and wantz to play on my laptop damnit!", with Blizz' mindtrick they're like "Oh cool! *<8-D"
That was a retarded smiley with a party hat, btw. |

Beta, and Stress Test. These words do not mean "Demo" I am sick of people like you.
I don't want to live on this planet anymore. Sorry charlie, but since there are no demos any more, a beta is the only form of "try before you buy" we get until games go F2P.
If there's no try option, I sure as hell won't buy. |

No. Allowing me to even play the game that I've already downloaded? Yes. |
