Ah... maybe the art style or models shown in the screenshots slightly resemble it. I might have this game disc lying around if it came bundled with a video card, or maybe I'm thinking of another game (Omikron?). If it's not too bad I'll check it out for nostalgia sake.

Square had nothing to do with Anachronox. Eidos wasn't bought by Square until years later. Also, how does it look anything like Deus Ex? Anachronox used the Quake 2 engine and had blockier characters with lower-res textures. The art style was also distinctly different than DX's.

Why does Anachronox look so similar to Deus Ex?

Also this: "developer / publisher - Ion Storm Inc. / Square Enix" If Square had anything do do with this game back then maybe that explains the JRPG elements?
