When i see people complaining about Origin.. may i remind people that Origin is still in beta and STILL in its first year of existence? In that time frame steam couldn't even manage starting games properly. To me, that makes it already superior.
Except that EA has tried a download system multiple times, this isn't their first dance. At one point they even charged you extra money if you wanted to redownload a game after a few months. Also, they have FAR more money than valve had at the time they started steam, and could easily afford to make it much better and much smoother when they introduced it to paying customers. Valve was pioneering a lot of this, EA has multiple examples to choose from to see how to do it, and improve on the concept.
I've tried origin and there's NOTHING it offers thats superior to steam IMHO. The only memorable thing I took from trying origin is that it bugs you a heck of a lot about joining facebook to it, and if you closed those boxes it just revealed other prompts to join behind them.
Also, EA has a long and storied history of screwing everyone and everything they touch (including studios and devs they buy, their own employees, and especially their customers). Valve has a long history of taking care of employees and customers. I know which one I trust more.
BTW, I've been gaming since before steam existed if it matters. I even have a steam account that uses an email as a login, that was only the case for a short time after steam first came out.
