The only thing that really makes factions a pain are related to armors. But you can get around it with this mod here:
http://newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=36920 it removes the faction requirement from all armors and makes "faction id" cards which you can use to set your faction if you need to infiltrate somewhere/something. You can either buy, or find the cards randomly through out the world, and you can get them all for nothing if you know where to look(or well you can just look in the readme too).

I stopped playing Fallout New Vegas before I found out about the 4GB launcher and my experience was heavily influenced by the poor stability of the game. Did the 4GB launcher make a huge difference in this respect? If so, I may have to revisit the game someday (but I'm not playing Dead Money again).

There aren't really any stability issues anymore outside of the usual problems with codecs that have plagued all games built in the netimmerse engine. But that can be gotten around using the shark007 codec pack if you're using win7.

I'm just barely out of the starting town, and looking forward to a dusty adventure. Any recommendations on where to go or who to kill?
I would recommend up upgrade your textures to make it look even better!
http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=39755
And the enhanced shaders as well!

Played the last three. Honest Hearts and Old World Blues were the best. Very meaty and satisfying for DLC. Bethesda says there won't be any expansions for Skyrim. That's a shame but I can live with DLC only if it's on par with New Vegas's.
