The only way to quit, is to just hit that cancel button, and go cold turkey.

I led a raiding guild for most of WotLK, and raided since TBC. I have a lot of "cool" stuff on my guy, but it's all just pixels.

They don't really want to login since they're bored, but there's nothing else to play. That and they have a huge amount of time invested in their characters, so they don't want to quit.

The cost of playing a MMO has nothing to do with the subscription fee.

I agree, nin. It does seem totally out of place. I quit in November, the subscription died in December, and I haven't missed it. Additionally, all the news I've seen since, the expansion race, the skill changes, this pet stuff, all of it -- everything I've seen has made me think, "Gee, I got out at the right time."

but with their subs dwindling for the last year, SW:TOR rising in subs, and GW2 on the horizon

It's almost like they're in a race to see who can kill wow first - it's competitors or blizzard itself.

Wow. I had not heard about the pet battles yet. That is just sad, really sad. I think WoW just jumped the shark...

It just seems really odd and tacked on, compared to everything else in the game. I understand they want to try new things, and maybe give a different subset of player something to do, or an excuse to hang around, but compared to everything else, it seems out of place.

This was the article I read on it.

It is fairly obvious now that the game is on the back burner while they push out Diablo 3, Heart of the Swarm, and their next MMO (Titan). Of course it will never "die," but with their subs dwindling for the last year, SW:TOR rising in subs, and GW2 on the horizon, it won't be long before it is finally dethroned.

Killed my sub after 7yrs.

It's apparent that the initial creative genius(es) that started it have left. Pandas and Pokemon (pet combat)??, down to 6 talents or w/e they're calling them now, and to me at least they now appear to be in shovel mode. Ya I'm done.

Thats why the few friends I have that still play, continue to. They are bored out of their minds but they continue to pay that $15 a month simply because of the time and money they have invested into their characters.

Note it's also these people who think GW2 is going to suck because it won't have a monthly fee. They are so damn brainwashed by WoW and they don't even realize it!

I think most of my friends still playing are just on cruise control now (more so with the yearly thing). They don't really want to login since they're bored, but there's nothing else to play. That and they have a huge amount of time invested in their characters, so they don't want to quit.

Bring on WoW 2.0 and a character wipe.

Balance updates! ROFL

When I quit WoW last year after Cataclysm came out, the biggest reason was that it became apparent that the WoW team has no idea what in the hell they are doing anymore. For the first few months of that expansion they were dicking around with talents so much, your entire rotation and play style could change from week to week.

Yeah, they still have lots of bugs in the game from that time, too.
Right now I doubt they actually care about people leaving. They act like everything is unimportant anyway.
For the first time in 7 years I know I wont be coming back.
I have given up on waiting for BIS to come back to their senses and do a real ArmA 2 successor.

I was looking at the pet battle preview on MMOChamp yesterday and just scratching my head...
