LA Noire is a pretty shitty port, in case anyone was wondering. I'm hoping the gameplay will make up for it but I wasn't impressed with my first go with it.

Agreed. I have about 100 hours in the xbox version, and would do a lot more on the PC one....

So does just about everyone but I'll take LA Noire. Just bought it for 12.50. RDR I'd buy at full price if the port didn't suck the balls off a yak.

I was tempted by Bioshock 2 for about five seconds until I remembered that it still has Securom and GFWL.

I found the game pretty enjoyable, although it gets really repetitive after awhile & some of the interrogations are damn near impossible to get right. The graphics were fine, the controls were very similar to GTA 4. The side missions were a blast but all were pretty repetitive type missions. Overall it's worth about 19.99 IMO.
Anyone interested in IL-2 Sturmovik: Cliffs of Dover for something of about equal value from my Wishlist?
I'm TOTALLY digging Arkham City the game is fantastic & it's a HUGE game as far as content goes. But beware the PC version has some serious "saving" issues. The game has lost numerous peoples saves because of some kind of cloud sync between Steam & GFWL, some folks had 70+ hours of game saves vanish. I had it happen to me once with about 4 hours into it. Also I had to get a new key from Steam because GFWL would not accept the one that was issued to me....Yep a TON of people have that issue too.

LA Noire bored the crap out of me. There is a method to talking to people. Once you have figured that out and looking for clues (waiting for controller to vibrate) gets old really really fast.
Sold/traded it (PS3) in after 5 or so hours of gameplay.

I got it yesterday with the DoDs achievement. At least it's better than the last free game I got which was CSS. And yay now I even have 2 Valve coupons...

Is there a way to keep Steam from pausing a DL when firing up another Steam game? I'd like to play some Civ 5 while I wait but it pauses the DL! Grr!

It only does that on actual start up of something. Tabbing out, restarting and tabbing back in usually solves it.

I turned off all the vibrations and dings. Still a very formulaic game and I understand if anyone is bored by it but I've heard the complaint about "vibration" etc. one too many times.

Their mechanics, and it's on by default. Regardless the end result is the same, with or without the vibration. You walk up to random objects, twist and turn them until the clue is discovered. Rinse & Repeat. Waiting for the vibration is just the same as having a visual or audible cue.
The one game I was actually interested in never went on sale... Anno 2070.

Yep. And it's still super-annoying you have to do that, because not all games actually handle alt-tabbing all that well. It's a bug that's been in Steam for fucking years, but I guess nobody at Valve is "interested" in fucking fixing it.
