Battlefield Play4Free Nerf Gun Uproar

The Battlefield Play4Free Forums discuss the removal of "legacy" weapons that players had purchased within the online military first-person shooter. There is a FAQ explaining that they were imbalanced, that there are no refunds offered for these, and that they are being replaced by "unique" +3 weapons. There is followed by page after page of complaints about this, as summarized on GamingBolt: "However, these weapons have been stripped of all attachments, and those players who had customized their weapons to their liking using attachments will now have to buy new ones from a new catalog. So basically, EA is asking players to pay for something that they’re already pay for. Say, if you increased your ammo capacity using attachments, you will have to do that again now, since all Legacy updates have been removed." Thanks Ant via Digg.

Maybe you should focus less on your gaming conquests and more on your real life ones

Sometime I like to tune out

If you play Pay2Win games, you deserve whatever awful crap happens. BFBC2 is ten bucks - five if you catch a sale. Say what you will about it, it's better than the Play4Free pigshit.

I could not have any less empathy for the people affected by this.

this is basicly the same reason I quit "beta testing" Battlezone the war.

Ill check out how bad my situation is I guess. Standby.

UPDATE

Ok I checked my account and I lost my STG77AUG with Holo sights but I still have the first STG77AUG with Iron sights and it is set as a +3. what sucks is I purchased lasts forever on the holo sight STG77AUG based on there ad. BUT they did give me free legacy holo sights "what ever that means". BUT I lost one whole weapon and if they are doing dual primary weapon add-ons, I have to purchase yet another rifle. I had two, now I only have one good one not counting the crappy G3A4. :-P

Another update

It will take me 321000 xp just to get to 21 from 20 (where I sat for months due to level cap)

Laws do generally distinguish between "natural" and "artificial" persons, albeit generally not in ways relevant to the context of your point.

these fools should just scrounge up the $10 to get Bad Company 2 on Steam and put that sorry excuse for a BF game to rest. *Especially* those who are funneling money into *renting* the game, just go buy a real Battlefield game. Theyre cheap, and still tons of players.
First you say they should get BC2, then you say get a real BF... Make up your mind.

Corporations are not evil. They exist solely to acquire profit for their shareholders. They are allowed to do this by any means allowed by the law. Under law in most developed countries corporations are legaly - people. They have the same rights as any other human.

I'd agree, but almost all the large publishers pull some kind of nasty BS: Activision, Ubisoft, EA... What games DO you buy Darks? Just stuff from indie publishers?
IMHO, EA is the worst of the bunch and have been for years. Fortunately they don't tend to have too many games I'm interested in, and if I am I can usually wait until a really good sale on steam so I dont give them much. Ubi mainly has issues with the copy protection constant online BS. I've enjoyed more ubi games over recent years than EA I think. Activision is greedy on the money, but nowhere near EA.

And this surprises people how? You keep giving EA money, they're going to keep raping you.

I think my favorite part of the whole story is how initially they were all like "No, those weapons aren't unbalanced!" and now their tune is "yeah, those were way unbalanced, so we got rid of all of them and replaced them with new weapons you have to buy more shit for."

Good old EA. Your entire corporate headquarters could burn to the ground, and it still wouldn't make up for all the shit you pull.

Well, what do you expect playing an explicitly pay2win game made by the most greedy publisher you can find in today's market? Customers who would ragequit over spending a few more bucks on upgrades are not their target audience.

Clearly you didn't buy those weapons, you only rented them until EA saw fit to no longer let you rent them. This is what happens when a developer/publisher has total control over game content.
