A Game of Thrones RPG = 30 Hours

Focus Home Interactive announces they will publish the A Game of Thrones RPG in Europe. They offer some new screenshots from the game as well as some details, including that we should expect about 30 hours of gameplay. Here's word:
Along the 30 hours of gameplay offered by "Game of Thrones", play as Mors, sworn brother of the Night's Watch, and Alester, a Red Priest in search of redemption who is back to Westeros after a long exile. The Hand of King Robert Baratheon has just passed away, and these two charismatic heroes will find themselves dragged in a grand quest that will lead them through familiar and gorgeous places of Westeros, such like the Wall and its region, or the famous King’s Landing. In this grand adventure, they will meet famous faces: Queen Cersei, Varys the Spider or Jeor Mormont, the Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch faithfully reproduced from the TV series.

In "Game of Thrones", you will choose the class of your characters, find your fighting style, reach a good balance between your strengths and weaknesses, and get ready for epic battles! Find, buy or loot new equipment and weapons to fit your approach of the fights, and gain experience to improve your skills or learn new ones. Slow the time down during battle to analyze the situation and choose your next moves. In game of thrones, political skills can be as lethal as a sharpen sword, so never underestimate the power of a silver tongue to solve a critical situation!

Yay, another shite game based on one of the best fantasy series Ive ever read. (The show is quite cool too)

Well at least George Martin is going to get paid and then some, maybe he even completes the series before he croaks...
I have a nifty blue line!

Too bad not mention of open world.
The worst criminal in human history, undeniably. There has never been a figure in political history, so dedicated to destroying the prospects of organized human life on the planet, in the near future.

I would like to read this series but man those books are HUGE. Like reading multiple copies of War & Peace..lol. I'm about half way through "American Gods" right now & I'm enjoying it. I've heard HBO is doing a series on that book too?

A shame HBO didn't give the same stellar treatment to The Walking Dead. Oh man, what a terrible series compared to its original material, the comics. How could Kirkman allow the show to deviate so much from the original story is anyone's guess.

They are using speedtree I can tell! Well if the adaptation is on par with the quality of the Witcher. I will forgive the aging engine..

Only 30 hours of gameplay? Count me out, I suppose they will try to charge you $60 for the experience. Tired of these developers dumping half done games on us.

Their really not that big - or good. I read the first one earlier in the year but left it with a strong suspicion that Martin didn't know exactly where his story was going. The plot felt more like a brainstorming session then a carefully laid out plan. Checking wiki that certainly seems to be the case with each subsequent book being further and further delayed while he tries to keep all the plot threads under control.

100+ hours with skyrim for $60, and a game of thrones with 30 hours that means it should be like $20 right?

American Gods is excellent - and I didn't hear they were making a series out of it.

A Song of Fire & Ice is a great series and though it is long it is certainly worth it. I'm almost finished with the latest book and wish I had more to read.

20 hours of Deus Ex HR for $60, that means this should be $90, right?

Baldur's Gate 2, 300 hours, $50. This should be worth $5, right? That makes Call of Duty titles, lessee here, about 65 cents?

A typical $60 game these days gives ~10-20 hours of gameplay. Sure, Skyrim breaks the mold, but the length of this game is typical.

It read to me more like "History of a Fantasy Europe". Necessarily broad in scope.

Look, it's either doorstop series like this or more Twilight sparkly vampires. I'll take this any day.

30 hours is fine for me. Any longer than that and I really don't have a chance of finishing the game. More concerning is that this game is going to be trash. Sad but true. If only cd projekt were making it. Oh well, moving on...

Yeah, they're huge - because Martin spends pages and pages telling you over and over again about what people ate, how they ate it and what they ate it off. He's easily one of the most tedious writers to ever make a fortune. Do yourself a favor and just stick to the TV show.

Martin is very detail oriented so the books are huge but if you are a reader you will still blow through them like nothing. If your like most of us you will also come to both loth and love the Game of Thrones.
