"Canon" Indy Jones Facebook Game Tomorrow

A new Indiana Jones prequel is coming in the form of a Zynga Facebook game, rather than a movie, reports Kotaku. In what sounds like something out of a South Park parody, they say the game known as Adventure World will be renamed Indiana Jones Adventure World following the addition of Indy-themed content, and the story is to be canon. Word is the new game goes live tomorrow, but the new content will roll out over several weeks. Kotaku offers a write-up on the original Adventure World, saying it "seemed like an Indiana Jones riff from the start," and that it "is different from other Zynga games because it is story-driven and plays a little more similarly to a classic action-adventure video game than a simple farm or city-management game, letting the player control a main character who uses whips and machetes to cut through jungle, fight snakes, deactivate traps and help local people, while questing for rare treasure." As for the business model, they note: "Like the other major Zynga games, it entices people to click and play for a few minutes per session before waiting to earn more energy to keep playing—or by paying for that energy to keep playing immediately." A subsequent story offers video of the game. Thanks nin.

My wife bought tickets, saying "hey look, opening night at 12:01!" on thursday while we were getting ready for bed.

"Get your coat."

"Why?"

"When is 12:01AM Friday?"

=)

I saw IJ4 by myself because no one would go with me and I felt even though it would be terrible I still needed to see it, if only for just the theme music.

I still prefer the first.

Someone once made an oservation that your favorite between the films had to do with which one you saw first. Me, obviously #1. In the Drive in (long hilarious story, but not for here).

Ant, Seph...which one did you guys see first?

^D^
I saw the first one with my parents on cable TV/VHS tape in the mid 1980s/80s.

FYI, http://aqfl.net/node/6179 for my poll for those who saw all Indy movies. Also, my fourth Indy movie review.

I'm just a kid compared to most of you guys here but I saw Raiders for the first time on a VHS recorded off of HBO. Then we had a conversion van with a TV and VCR and we bought Temple of Doom to watch and instantly thought that was better. I'm sure it was initially my favorite because it was more kid-friendly but even now going back and rewatching I still feel Temple is more balls-to-the-wall while still maintaining elements of Raiders and not getting too goofy. Last Crusade just felt really forced and I think a lot of people like it because "hey it has Sean Connery" but Connery, the german chick, and the ghost knight at the end really ruined it for me.

Raiders and Temple are nearly tied for me but I do have to give it to Temple because of thuggee cults, Short-Round, mine-cart rides, etc. Also the opening scenes and action in Shanghai are awesome.

Bah to the fourth and second movies. Only the first one rocked. Third one is good.

I know I didn't explain why I think the second one is the best but I am going to ask you why you don't like it

So?
It was too silly like the fourth one.

I know, right? It's hard to believe that there are so many people out there that are willing to part with their money like that.

Somewhat reminds me of those classic gun-games they have in the arcades..."deposit 2 tokens to continue." Only this arcade never closes. Ever.

Choosing to ignore that movie number four ever existed? Good man.
What fourth film?

And after "Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis" there were'nt any more games worth mentioning. Simple plattform and stupid action games, who tried to copy the games, which were based on the IJ formula like Tomb Raider, instead on reyling on the strength of the franchise. Nowadays, we have Uncharted on the PS3, which is THE nearly perfect game adaption of a Indiana Jones movie.

And now this franchise zombie, chewing on already braindead people who dont recognize, that they are not playing games with Zynga, but are slaving away in a money accumulation service.

I'm not a big fan of 3 and think that Temple of Doom was the best one.

And the best work is Fate of Atlantis.

*chuckles*

I was just getting ready to reply,"No thanks Zynga, I'll just reinstall Fate of Atlantis."

South Park really nailed it with what they did to Indy. Same with Star Wars.

If any of you are as disgusted with George as I am, I strongly recommend the documentary "The People Vs George Lucas". I watched it this past weekend, and it was a riot.

They were making a modern Indiana Jones with that "force unleashed" euphoria engine but it was canceled.

Given what they did with Star Wars, maybe it's a good thing.

I love the three Indiana Jones movies. Great adventure stuff, great atmosphere. Had some fun times. And i love those two adventure games from Lucasfilm Games. I wonder, why no one has made more films or games with this setting?

Hmm ...
