A semi-recent trailer from Risen 2: Dark Waters features the developers from Piranha Bytes discussing their upcoming pirate-themed action/RPG sequel. The clip is partly shot in their offices and partly on the set of Gilligan's Island, using translations and subtitles to help us understand the German discussion of creating the game world. I really think that comparing any Elder Scrolls game to a Gothic game and claiming they're similar is kind of insulting to Piranha Bytes.
They're similar in many, many more ways than they are different.
And Skyrim is ten times better than Oblivion, so if Oblivion is what you are going off of then you should expand your knowledge.
