Ships Ahoy - Serious Sam 3: BFE

Serious Sam 3: BFE is now available, offering the prequel to Croteam's action-packed first-person shooter series. Word is: "Serious Sam 3: BFE is a glorious throwback to the golden age of first-person shooters where men were men, cover was for amateurs and pulling the trigger made things go boom. Serving as a prequel to the original indie sensation, Serious Sam: The First Encounter, Serious Sam 3 takes place during the Earth’s final struggle against Mental’s invading legions of beasts and mercenaries. Set against the collapsing temples of an ancient civilization and the crumbling cities of 22nd century Egypt, Serious Sam 3 is an exhilarating fusion of classic twitch shooters and modern gameplay features." The game is available through didigital distributors such as Direct2Drive, GameStop Impulse (on sale), and Steam. Here's a launch trailer to celebrate the release:

I loved the first game's Egyptian theme. This looked nice. I hope they will release a playable demo!

You're welcome nin! As far as the slow start the old games did start slow(er) but the pace picked up much faster than this one has, that's how it feels to me anyways. Maybe I should've been more specific.

I've played it for around 3 hours now. It started off quite slow but when it finally picks up pace it feels like old Sam is back again. I'm not a fan of the new generic modern warfare guns, I'd much prefer the old fashioned SS skins instead. Obviously it's a Serious Sam game so forget about any plot whatsoever. Croteam barely setup one from the start of the game which is absolutely fine for Sam. If you are a fan of the old games you'll probably like the new one but even though it feels like Sam it hasn't yet given me that frantic feel the original did. Maybe after playing for a few more hours it'll kick in but the original hit hard right from the first level on. Starting off at a slow pace might turn off some anxious gamers who want to jump right into hordes of monsters attacking you at the same time as SS1 and SS:SE were. I do think a demo would benefit them for selling this especially after the horrible game that was serious Sam 2 years ago. At least there is no signs of that game at all in the new one Thank GOD!

If I recall correctly the first levels in Serious Sam were actually pretty slow too, it wasn't until the later levels that things really picked up on a grand scale.

This is 100% correct for SS1, SE and SS2

I'm really surprised there is no demo for this game.

With all the games out now, a sweet demo would at least set them apart a bit from the others.

Oh man thank you! I thought I was the only one. I got seriously dizzy playing this. This has NEVER happened before in my entire gaming life, so I don't know what the hell Croteam did, but yowza. When you get that hammer at the start and swing it, I felt like I was going to puke/pass out practically!

My response to this is, OK Croteam, you’re now allowed to convert this for the console. This is how all ports should be when making games on all platforms. Make it for the PC then dumb it down to fit the Console.

That was certainly nice to watch them playing it on a pc for once and not some dummbed down console.

Certainty looks pretty. Now lets hope it controls better than Serious Sam 2.
