ZeniMax Media announces having shipped seven million units of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, saying they expect Bethesda Softworks' RPG sequel to generate more than $450 million in global retail sales. I think the issue is that they shouldn't have been mapped like that in the first place. It's completely illogical.

I did this the first day I played, only now instead of holding left mouse to fire a bow, it's right mouse, which takes some getting used to. I wish you could change your character's handedness...

I've literally seen dozens of people complain about this when it's right there in one of the main menus. It's not even hidden behind the stupid scrolling requirements for 99% of the other menus.

Silly I know, but when I came across a group of hunters leisurely taking a soak in those hot springs out in the wilderness, all relaxed, tents and a cozy fire burning nearby, a friendly greeting to me, I was sold. Or walking into an inn or general store to hear the husband and wife amiably bickering. I'm finding a lot of human touches like that. Seems they really took the complaints about wooden characters to heart this time around.

Nice not to hear the same 4 voices throughout the game too. And I swear some of the NPCs are voiced by Garrett himself, Stephen Russell.

Too bad you can't kill the kids though, smart-mouthed snotty brats ...

Use Left Hand and Use Right Hand are remappable ingame! They are reversed by default to be the same as previous games presumably.

I always thought they might go back in time and do the founding of the empire with Talos. That would be a great story. The issue there though is the scope... like Star Trek they kind of talk about the amazing stuff they can't really show.

They changed Summerset Isle to Alinor... something tells me that might be because Alinor looks better on a box cover.

Not everybody has to work, those of us who don't, need something other than t.v/other activities to fill that void when you've exhausted other options.

After sports, video games are my #2 as t.v isn't interactive. I log many hours playing video games until my friends are off work. Sports are for the evening.

Aside from the unusually craggy mountains which feel like they were auto-generated (I'm fine with craggy, but some of those crags are Mass Effect 1 levels of random peaks), the art direction is among the best I've ever seen.

Seeing smoke plumes from the city change directions in the breeze, watching a wave of wind sway a valley full of trees, the fog/clouds/mist flowing over mountains and forming off of peaks, it's amazing. The small things get me too: I was in the north country near the Mage College and watched as the sun came out after a wicked snow storm, and within a few minutes water was dripping from the edges of cliffs.

It's still buggy (for some reason on the PC my weapons are mapped backwards: The left hand on the screen is activated by the right mouse button), and the quests are glitchy, and some of the enemies are the definition of cheap, but I keep coming back for the art direction. Finding waterfalls and hot springs and other acts of nature are almost more encouragement to play than the quests.

Elsweyr. Swamps and dusty plains and a detailed new unarmed fighting system!

I am still loving this, I am so happy that my fave series has a lease of new life. I was worried that all the landscapes would be the same but there is a lot more personality than I expected.

Here are my favourite 2 mods:

Skyrim Tweaks Complete - A tweaked set of configs. I was only playing of High before but I have better view distance and performance with this. Everywhere in game is amazing now, and only open towns like Whiterun have dips in FPS (which I had before mods).

Himmelsrand Custom Shader Suite - This adjusts some of the effects and adds some post processing effects. The colour balance is much more natural than the default and dark areas in the game are dark as they should be so you'll need light sources sometimes. I noticed no change in performance and the results are a huge improvement!

Wow yeah, hard to say who would/should/could take GOTY.

Oh, wait a minute, no it's not because even Skyrim is just more of the same, with a coat of paint. I'm still running along rocks and hiding behind a bowl to steal a greatsword from the only other person in the room. I love the dwemer structures, I love the incredible thought to the landscape, and everything.
Skyrim is my personal favorite as well for everything that makes it amazing, including the dragons, of which no fps game has had since Quake (they never made release, but they were there goddamnit).

Deus Ex had story, cohesive structure, and a tight path the story wove through that structure.
It was a really smart game. Sadly, the schwag was shit, and I think schwag makes or breaks GOTY status.

My vote for GOTY? To MW3 for (hopefully) finally killing the franchise with its sameness. Finally fans woke the fuck up and cried bullshit, and for that, GOTY is deserved.

Note: This message is laden with extreme amounts of sarcasm.

The Dwarven ruins in this game are awesome! How many folks have really explored the Dwemer underground? It's immense! Detailed! Connected! You can roam for hours and using various buildings entrances and exits, find your way across Skyrim!
It's incredibly well thought out. Absolutely amazing!

80 hours and think i have seen now 70% of the game, Thief, Brotherhood and Mages, only the Warrior guild left... so far still hunting for the last house (25k gold.. oof)

But hey, i got my "call of storms" shout and thats super awesome, even against Dragons The Thief and Brotherhood quest lines scream for mods though, they are needed to extend these to something thats a bit more "fancy" than the recurring procedural (and they were not kidding with that) quests

Anyway, I play sneaky 1h guy and seriously, invest points in smithing.. i run around with epic improved glass armor and shield all enchanted and have over 700 armor. Normal enemies don't even scratch me.. and magical resistance is like 70% now.. only few enemies are even worth bothering now (playing on Difficulty 3 of 5)

Anyhow.. the last parts of the game are going to be a breeze.. but i got over 80 exciting hours out of it.. thats .. thats.. pretty damn awesome for a SP RPG

And exploring is also worthwhile as there must be a hundred side quests around.. and not all of them are the "usual" ,p though sneaking and backstab damage is pretty damn powerful.. Improved blade of woe does 52 damage .. 52 times 30 damage that, is... i can 1 shot anything and everything, even dragons i think if i could sneak up on them ,p

Lets hope for that, Elswyr is the only thing the Elder Scrolls series never even touched or explained properly, besides it being a jungle area

And with that kind of race setup we may finally get properly looking Khajit ;p

30 hours in and I've done so little! I say about 3/4ths of the realm is still unexplored. It boggles the mind.

Every day I play, I have some interesting story to tell -- a quest or two completed, and something random that occurred or something unexpected I discovered. Amazing.
