Skyrim Sells 3.4M in 48 Hours?

According to the guesstimate on VGChartz, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has sold over 3.4 million copies in 48 hours, a figure which does not include digital sales. They say: "59% of units were sold on the X360 (over 2 million copies) and 27% on the PS3, with 14% on PC." Thanks Lens of Truth via Reddit.

How long before PC gamers demand a D11 patch?

The game looks quite amazing. I can't imagine anyone stomping their feet demanding a DX11 patch.

Half of the xbox numbers are rentals, sales to stores, right?

Should any political party attempt to abolish social security, unemployment insurance, and eliminate labor laws and farm programs,
you would not hear of that party again in our political history.....and they are stupid. Dwight D. Eisenhower

Well deserved, as someone else said Skyrim is a nice in-between for Oblivion and Morrowind. There is just an alarming amount of content, its one of those games where I'm not sure it'll be possible for me to see and do everything without several playthroughs. I've encountered very few bugs so far too, the game is very refined outside of the mouse issues which I fixed up with a few ini tweaks.

I can give you some "numbers" from the retail sales of the game in my company:

The PC edition sold out during the first day 11.11.11. I cant tell you how many units in total but suffice to say that we still have the PS3 edition on stock in all of our stores (as of today).

It was so hectic that I had to reserve a copy on DAY1 which is something I NEVER EVER DO. (Im not reggreting it either)

For comparisons sake we ordered the same number of units of the PS3 version as well as the PC. (Since the XBOX isnt that popular in my country we ordered very few copies for the XBOX, suffice to say those sold like hotcakes as well)

I wish I could tell you guys more, but Im afraid that TEH INTERNETS will bite me in the ass. Draw your own conclusions from this

P.S. I cant remember the last time a PC game clearly beat the its own console competition on a scale like this at retail, although PC gaming is still very popular in my country in general.

PC Gamer says:

While only 14% of those copies sold were on PC, those figures donít include digital download numbers, which are sure to be substantial considering the enormous numbers of people playing Skyrim on Steam.

While that may be true, the numbers may not be as big as you think. I mean Steam only peaked at 250k or so concurrent users... and I'm pretty sure most people that bought the game were playing it over the weekend.

Then you have the other digital sites like Impulse.

If we're lucky... we (PC users) matched the PS3 or got slightly better numbers.
