A Valley Without Wind Update

Arcen Games announces several tidbits about A Valley Without Wind, their upcoming procedurally generated side-scroller. They say they have entered the game into IGF 2012 and they will be attending next week's MineCon. They also write about their beta, and how it can get you a discount: "The full version of A Valley Without Wind is available for pre-order at 50% off the launch price during early beta, with customers gaining instant access to the latest available build and all subsequent releases. An updated demo--complete with the aforementioned intro mission--is out now for download, and a huge batch of screenshots showing off what's new have been released as well." Finally, they offer details on a new intro mission they've added as a result of beta testing, saying: "The new addition should allow players to be more comfortable navigating around the world in the side view, become familiar with how buildings, surface areas, and undergrounds all work, and have the confidence to head out onto the world map on their own."

I just played the demo for a bit (about 45 min). I still have no idea what's going on. Their map isn't much of a map, so I'm lost. There are weird holes in the wall that act as doors to another room that looks the same (and said doors look like decoration, so you have to get near it to see it's a door). It's got some Gauntlet monster generators that look like decorations. Lots of grave stones that don't seem to do anything.

Just a weird game.
