Documentary Uses Arma2 for Fake Footage

The Bohemia Interactive Forums point out an ITV Documentary which aired yesterday on British TV showing a helicopter attack labeled "IRA footage 1988" which is actually footage from Arma2, BIS's military shooter sequel. One of the ensuing user comments answers the documentary's statement that "no one was killed in this attack" by pointing out that this is because it was a videogame. There are also comments from Bohemia stating this was done without their permission, and is against the game's terms of service. The scene in question is shown in this YouTube video which also provides the original gameplay clip. Thanks digitalFatteh via joe.ie. Update: A post on Kotaku has a statement from ITV: "The events featured in Exposure: Gaddafi and the IRA were genuine but it would appear that during the editing process the correct clip of the 1988 incident was not selected and other footage was mistakenly included in the film by producers. This was an unfortunate case of human error for which we apologise." They say ITV claims to hold actual video of the attack, and plan on replacing the game footage in the documentary.

My arse.
They KNOWINGLY inserted this crap. The person who was told to do it will be probably fired (and was probably told he would be fired if he didnt do it anyway - been there, done that) and the filthy slimy "producers" who have given the order to do it will be spared or even promoted.

Yes that would be wrong - it's actually the other way around!

Murdock is Australian, but Fox Entertainment Group is registered in America.

Anyway, the original point stands. When Iran or China fake this stuff, it's their government. ITV is just the station that gives Simon Cowell free reign. Even if it was the BBC, that's not the UK government.

(BTW, that difference between UK/Britain/England/etc clip is excellent, I've had reason to send it to a few people!)

Not to pick nits, but that would be Australia. Murdock is not American.

Of course they would. I just expect them to be better at it.

I was referencing Iran and China not for any sort of bias but because Iran was caught photoshopping missile tests and China played a scene from Top Gun as footage of their air force (which is particularly strange since they don't fly any of the aircraft in that movie).

Apologies in that case, sir. And I quite agree with you for the record.

No they've figured only old people would watch that show anyways and they wouldn't be able to tell the difference, between the live action and gameplay footage. Most of those folks are still on CRT TVs man !!

Because using the staged live action actual historical footage would have been too damn expensive.
