Red Orchestra 2 Preloads

With the release of the game planned for tomorrow, Steam is now offer preloads of Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad for those who have preordered Tripwire Interactive's World War II shooter sequel, though there is heavy demand on the Steam servers at the moment. This also offers the last chance to get in on the 10% discount for preordering.

It's a great game.. but in my experience rather unstable. I hope they'll fix it up quickly!

If you mean its going to be the best MP game this year then i strongly disagree, BC2 / MW3 and BF3 are all vastly more competitive targeted at MP and SP, Red Orchestra 2 barely manages to do a half-way complete MP experience.
Reminds me of a friends kid (whose father i tried to convert to RO), who tried RO1 and found it "way too hardcore" then returned to his console shooters. That's usually a good sign the game is great.
I am preloading too, i had great times on RO, i only expect the best for RO2.

Whats that even supposed to mean? "game of the year" is not an official title, its totally subjective. Heck, you can call your game "My Game - GOTY Edition" and release it as that... its completely pointless.

Good thing people are just going to play this no matter what you think then.

I've been screwed too many times by devs that say it will have eyefinity support and don't live up to their promise. If I have to edit an ini file, the hud is streached, or the fov never feels right, I don't consider that eyefinity support. Half-Life 2 engine games and Bad Company 2 have worked correctly right for a long time now. When I see reviews where everyone Is playing this game without a hitch, I'll buy it then.

Suggestion for Valve:
Take the money you would use to buy yet another private island, and invest it in more bandwidth capacity.

I've really enjoyed the beta. I put more time into it than Portal 2 according to Steam I did get the server overloaded message last night, but I restarted the download a few times and it started downloading. I am looking forward to play the final game tonight when I get home from work.

true as for me, my GOTY is Skyrim.. because i love modding games ^^

I ain't much of a MP gamer anyway, but i do enjoy a good fun shooter romp once in a while, and i think for that kind of gamer the perks and stuff are really nice. BC2 was never boring the 350 hours i played it ;p Theres something about playing 3 hours after working on a project and gaining 2 or 3 new unlocks every time, its good for motivation and yeah.. i know it caters to some psychological pre-human reward instinct... but who cares.. as long as its fun.

I really wanted to enjoy realistic shooters though it just doesn't stick, but RO2 at least caters to that genre perfectly. Just playing a game for the score is something i outgrew after my CS clan years... i still enjoy being first or dominating a server with highest points, but its not why i am playing.

With RO2 i just dunno why i would play it. Just a test of skills with others in a realistic setting? Doesn't sound fun to *me*

If you like realistic, hardcore military shooters, then Red Orchestra 2 will very likely be your GotY. If you like unrealistic, casual military shooters than MW3 or BF3 will very likely be your GotY.

No, they changed everything in the final game. It comes with perks and Teabagging-Hotkeys and unlockable, fashionable uniforms in modern trend colors.

Popular pre-loads often cause the Steam servers to get overloaded. Very common. I got hit with a "too busy" message once, immediately reclicked the download, and it started up. 56% and going. Of course, it'd be nice to know when the actual unlock time is, as I haven't seen it posted yet.

Perhaps the game is really popular in your area? Or maybe when they put a new game up for pre-load, it's only available from specific servers, so they get strained when a lot of people are downloading around the same time. I'm getting 500-750 KB/s, which is fine, but not up to my usual speed of nearly 2MB/s
