No problem, if you haven't messed with unpacking your files and just want to use the one I made here's a link.

You just need to drop that folder into "your install/login"/My Documents/ or you can see the paths of the file I sent. The base structure where the file is located:

I disliked Space Marine, it's too simplistic and there isn't any real depth to chew on after you bored of its core gameplay. The MP wasn't anything to write home about either.

Anyone try WH40K: Space Marine? Is it fun? How long is it?

I picked up Space Marine and Dead Island on the same day and haven't played DI yet. Space Marine is awesome. I played through on Normal and it took me 9 hours to complete. I'm pretty good at the game... only had trouble in 3 areas, so I'd think this is about par for the course.

People are bitching on the forums that the game is 4 hours long. That is BULLSHIT. There's no way, even on easy, that someone can beat this game in 4 hours.

Not sure if it's your bag, but multiplayer is fun, as well.

Very, very well done.

oh yea, funny then, cause I later got a quest item of an Orange Hammer. weird. I hvae probably picked up over 200 items, and I have only come across 3 non white items.

I played for a couple hours after I think. That gas can side mission was the hardest thus far. I cleaned up all the side quests and am ready to move the story along.

Yea I also don't like the always on. Can hear people playing the game, hitting keys, feedback, myself talking, etc. Such a bad design decision. Just shows the glaring obvious of it being a port.

Yeah it was fun, I just don't have the attention span anymore and tend to play in 1-2 hour bursts before I head back to the web or Hulu.

With that item it was an orange (yellow?) "Hammer" but to you it appeared as a white flimsy hammer. After you picked it up and dropped it, it then appeared as a white flimsy hammer for me too.

I am lvl 11 after almost 5 hours of gameplay. Doing ALL side missions and a lot of exploring.

When I invited him (I have an internet rivate game, got tired of people coming in and screwing up my game) we were both level 6, but he had done a lot more side missions than I had. I had done 6 levels of creeping and exploring before doing any missions.

I was 'hosting' the game, and he was getting mega XP for things he had already done.

The only bug I saw was an item was white to me and green to him. I accidentally picked it up (stupid pickup key hardcoded that I don't use except when I need to backup!!!!!) and when I dropped it, it was white to him....

Oh well. Having a blast.

Dead Island + Mods = Awesome!

Just got official word (sent it to Blue), you can't be VAC banned for modding Dead Island! Allthumbsup

Here's the main thread....
http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2106453

There is even a mod that turns 3 NPCs (one in each of the first 3 hubs into Storage units. Not to mention the game looks with all the Bloom, Dust, Motion Blur, No Head Bob, No Desaturate, No Fog Before After, Adding Weather and even a Realism Mod (higher difficulty). It's just the first week, too.

Yep - Dead Island is an amazing game... about 6 hrs in now doing all that I can (yep I've found a couple of pistols so far).

The free-formness of it is amazing - this is what Far Cry 2 should have been like. Super super fun playing this game. Only irksome thing is there is a lot of backtracking if you are a completionist but fast travel helps this a lot. Fantastic world design and combat is good so far - really need to think about how to take thugs out etc (the bigger (yet early level) zombies).

Having more fun with Dead Island at the moment as it is a pisstake of a game - and I haven't even played co-op at all yet...!

DX:HR is still great also, but the visceral fun and extreme freedon of Dead Island has me hooked more so right now...

I hate bad games, with a passion. I unashamedly say you need to play Dead Island.

It's awesome. In coop, its the most fun I've had in a game.

Especially with a wife/GF/close friend in the same room.

For me I am enjoying Dead Island more than Deus Ex.
I found Deus Ex kinda boring, plus I hate stealth games.
Dead Island is everything Borderlands should have been.

From the Steam forums...

Check out Dead Island Helper @

This neat little tool includes FOV tweak, Vsync, disable bloom, menu mouse speed increase, disable motion blur, etc. Appears to be VAC safe since it's just editing the game's config files. From the same guy who gave us MassAffinity for Mass Effect 2.

Yea the bosses are the only scuff on an otherwise shining example of a modern RPG. I have heard you can take the first two out with nonlethal methods but I have no idea how it's done.

As to Dead Islands, now that I'm not having any issues with the game I find it quite a fun game. I'm in act 2 which is tough as hell compared to act 1 and there is a fair bit of gunplay certainly. Oh and just FYI the gun specialist character actually has a lot of melee 'skills' in her combat tree and she wields killer revolver in fury mode. She also has the best survival tree in the game. I've got an early game save with her, quite fun. Though the character I've taken the farthest is the Asian blade specialist. Fun character and blades are just so damn fun and deadly.

Guns are worthless until mid act 2 where you start fighting gun-wielding humans. At the end of act 2 you can get recipes to craft shotgun and pistol ammo, which makes them much more viable (but you still can't use guns exclusively because you can't carry nearly enough ammo). In the middle of act 3 you can get the recipe for rifle ammo.

All ammo creation uses metal scraps and bleach. Any time you see a trader carrying one of the two, just buy fucking tons of it; money is easy to come by, ammo is not.

Ammo is wasted on Walkers and Infected as melee weapons quickly dispatch them, but a single well-placed shotgun blast can take down Thugs, Floaters, and Butchers. Suiciders are best dispatched with a thrown weapon or a couple shots from a pistol.

Buy all the duct tape and deodorant you can as well, because deo bombs are extremely potent throughout the game, and very cheaply made.

I really cant get over how long DX:HR has been. With so many games today being short 6-10 hour SP games that was what I was expecting. I've got 23 hours clocked so far & I think I'm close to the end. What an amazing ride it has been with a story line that is actually interesting & GOOD. Really loving this game alot & I cant wait for my second play through when the DLC drops.

I have 28 hours of play time so far, and I've just finished the first boss fight. I've done a lot of exploring and every side quest I've come across. I like to save before talking to someone and after, so I can go back and see the outcome of the other options. I stick to my initial choice though.

I'm not too crazy about the boss fights. I'm not going for a pacifist play right now, but I'm doing stealth which tends to be easier if you use non-lethal take-downs, stun gun and tranq. darts.

After I finished the boss fight, I reloaded a save from right before to see if I could use the take-down move on him. I stunned him with an EMP grenade, ran around behind him and pressed the take-down key. It went to a cut scene where he picks me up and punches me, then goes back to real time and I'm still standing behind him. WTF???

By similar measure, I'm about 15 hours into Dead Island and the chart says I'm 35% through the main story line (yes, I'm doing most all of the side missions, too).

Someone mentioned guns. I had a single gun drop pretty early on, but it was mostly worthless as I couldn't find any ammo. However, guns arrive as a major element in the story when you have to fight the punks in Moresby in part 2. I find the gunplay surprisingly good, but you really only use the guns in specific scenarios (disclaimer: I have much game to go, and that could change).
