I'm sure Microsoft is crying in its cereal over the loss of "Team Meat".

Maybe not but this is an often repeated issue that's coming up a lot lately. XBLM and XBLA are big pieces in what holds the 360's online offering together, Microsoft shouldn't be cultivating a reputation as being hard to work with. The indies of today are often the AAAs of tomorrow.

Its not the only Indy that complains though, there have been, as Verno correctly stated, quite a few of these incidents, and thats just the ones we get to hear. Behind the scenes there is probably a lot of grumbling and brooding.

On the note of MS and their methods with XBLA, it appears from reports (they can't say directly, NDA/Contracts) that they changed their percentage from 30% to around 70% and that it applies to everybody (AAA or indie).

MS know they have a very popular online setup and are slowly beginning to abuse it. I understand that platform holders don't want complete freedom, but at the same time when their restrictions go beyond belief that is when developers find alternatives and use their platforms as afterthoughts.

I don't like Team Meat but MS are being rather disappointing recently.

70%? Why would ANYONE make a game under those kind of horseshit conditions?

Indeed, not to mention that no big name publisher would sell or make games for the x360 under these conditions unless it'd be a guaranteed super success

It's 35-45% if you self-publish. If you have a 3rd party publisher it's still 70%, but you're only getting a cut of that 70%.

So apparently the head of the Zelda game series is a complete wuss. He says Zelda was "the hardest game there is", which is bullsh*t.

I routinely could finish Zelda with zero deaths. Granted, the first time I finished the game I was around 400 deaths in, but hey... I was a kid.

If he thinks Zelda is bad I hope he never plays Demons Souls. I have to laugh when my friends talk to me about having difficulty in any game after playing that, I have no problem with getting frustrated or upset anymore because everything else is like a walk in the park by comparison.

Lately, I've realized that I'm already bracing myself for Dark Souls...

Is it more difficult than Ninja Gaiden? I always thought of myself as a kick-ass gameplayer until Ninja Gaiden just fucking walloped my ass.

Introversion said it took years for them to make MS happy with the XBLA version of Darwinia, and it almost bankrupted them. They won't be making a game for XBLA ever again either.

What got Introversion out of financial peril? STEAM.

I love how the media loves to write the obituary of PC gaming, when we see many examples of how games and studios are actually saved by PC gaming.

Comments from the article from team meat:

Meanwhile, Refenes explained that the PC edition of Super Meat Boy has sold roughly twice as many copies as the Xbox Live Arcade version.
“That's just on Steam for PC,” he said.
“Other digital distribution sites in no way compare to what Steam is. Steam is a fucking powerhouse.”

Glad to hear they are doing well on PC
