Deus Ex: Human Revolution The Missing Link Announcement

Square Enix formally announces The Missing Link, the upcoming DLC pack for Deus Ex: Human Revolution first revealed last week. The announcement confirms plans to release the DLC for the action/RPG prequel next month and offers a few screenshots and this trailer to promote it. Here's word:
The DEUS EX: HUMAN REVOLUTION conspiracy grows deeper in The Missing Link. During lead character Adam Jensen’s quest for the truth in DEUS EX: HUMAN REVOLUTION, he mysteriously vanishes for three days. Where was he? What did he find out? The Missing Link reveals it all.

"We are very excited for DEUS EX: HUMAN REVOLUTION fans to be able to further develop Adam’s journey in the game with The Missing Link DLC," said David Anfossi, producer of DEUS EX: HUMAN REVOLUTION at Eidos-Montreal. "Gamers will be able to experience a vulnerable side of Adam like never before, which gives the overall game a whole new dimension. The Missing Link propels players into compelling gameplay, beginning with Adam being temporarily stripped of his use of augmentations; new, visually stunning environments; and the continuation of DEUS EX: HUMAN REVOLUTION’s conspiracy-rich story.”

This cry-pod you wake up in... is that near the end of the game? Because I'm feeling like I'm near the end due to the hours and hours I've put into this game already. I just finished the sidequest where I had to talk to a senile Michelle lady. No cry-pod yet. I also missed the "Tong's Rescue" in Hengsha, which is a bonus quest my retail version had to prompt up somewhere...?
I thought Hollywood had hit rock buttom. Then this happened.

Thanks - I went back to the lobby and he wasn't there, so I saved the game and then went on to China, just found "windmill" 's computer. Something to save for my 2nd playthrough in a couple months, but definitely a big glitch.

Ahhh I'm trying to finish up my side quests before I go to China, and found out all the stuff about Megan's death, talking to her mom in the lobby and as soon as I click all the buttons to tell her about it the conversation wheel thing is there but no words or anyting to click on and I just stand there, can't even hit esc. What's the deal???

Is this when you're cashing in the quest (and presenting items)? If so, I read that's because you're missing an item (or that was the claim).

Actually, it's the order. You need to talk to the guy in the lobby both before and after you break into his office and the captain's office in DPD, otherwise he will glitch and dissappear, and you'll get the empty dialog selector bug mentioned above. It's a known bug in the quest.

Cloak and Daggers has a bug where one of the witnesses gang guards spawns out of map. You can overcome that one by going to the fire escape, standing on the rail. And shooting at his HUD designator (you'll hit him eventually).

I ran into both of the above bugs. I had to redo motherly ties completely because of the out of order glitch.

Update: I searched around for "motherly ties glitch" and apparently it has to do with whether or not you locate detective wagner in the lobby before you do anything else?? I went in through the roof and got the stuff from his computer then left right afterwards, didn't even go to the lobby at all for this quest. I'm gonna go try to go back to the lobby and see if I can interact with him then try to complete the quest, but if what I found out is right I already messed up the order.

Yeah, I'm trying to complete the quest. I searched and read everything in the storage locker, and opened the safe where there was that bracelet. Should I like activate the bracelet first or something? I think I have everything completed for the mission.

I'm hoping to play through the game again once this DLC arrives. I did the stealth approach, this 2nd time I'll do gunz gunz gunz and finally get to fight all those cool looking robots rather than sneak around them.

Plus those bosses can say hello to a badass upgraded weapon instead of a stun gun. We'll see how well you like that you sons of bitches. I'm thinking the machine pistol since everyone and their mothers seemed to carry those around.

I feel ripped off... I didn't wake up from that cry-pod with a bunch of extra xp...

Incidentally, if this covers the 'missing' time on that boat ride, that does kind of scream 'incomplete game'... Right Beamer? (or whoever; I'm bad with names).

Really does seam that way. Tho Adam is one to not show emotions or anything. Maybe he just felt whatever happened was not worth telling anyone else.

I think it's in the manual somewhere. Deus Ex difficulty gives them more health, better accuracy, better vision, while at the same term nerfing you.

Sadly, it doesn't create more bad guys, though in a game like Deus Ex that wouldn't really work anyway, as the bad guys are all carefully placed to make sure they have holes in their patrol perimeters.

Well shit, that three-day thing was a bit spoilerish for those of us only seven hours into the game.

(and my seven hours is probably everyone else's three since I'm going slow on purpose. Yes, I DID in fact need to stop and gaze at every single sign and billboard on the street. Shut up.)

Think my first playthrough was 32 or 34 hours. Take your time and enjoy it.

I'm pretty sure my 70 hours (minus about 5 hours for two restarts) still reign supreme for the "Holy shit, dude, MOVE YOUR LAZY ASS!" award.

I took 40.5, being very sneaky and (I thought) thorough. For 70hrs, I'd have to be going for the Pacifist achievement, I think.

Not that I'm not tempted to go back and try to do the whole thing with one hand tied behind my back...

Hey, what exactly does the Deus Ex difficulty do, anyway? Just more bad guys? I hate "Hard" modes that just nerf you and buff the Bad Guys.

eunichron:

(secret texts)

and the way they did the whole Montreal sequence just felt really rushed and not well thought out compared to the rest of the story.

That's because Montreal was originally going to be a hub, like Detroit and Foo Yong Hai. They didn't have time to do three hubs, so they cut Montreal and left the Eliza Cassan is revealed to be an AI (shock!) bit in there for continuity purposes.

Interesting that they place it during the boat ride (where you skip a week ahead hehe) in the game. I wonder if it'll become seamless, where you board the boat and do this DLC and then get off it back to the normal game.

I hope so. LA Noire really spoiled me where DLC is concerned. It just becomes part of the overall narrative.

Spoiler text: Wasn't the point of the boat ride that Adam was pretty beat up after Tong double-crossed him at Belltower's port? Adam needed time to recuperate so he locked himself in one of those transport pods... I think it's kind of a stretch to go from a 3 day R&R ride to Singapore to discovering the truth behind who is controlling Belltower etc. Then again, I wasn't too impressed with the way they fit Eliza Cassan into the story. An Illuminati controlled AI news reporter is just so trite and boring, and the way they did the whole Montreal sequence just felt really rushed and not well thought out compared to the rest of the story.

(and my seven hours is probably everyone else's three since I'm going slow on purpose. Yes, I DID in fact need to stop and gaze at every single sign and billboard on the street. Shut up.)

Hey, I think a lot of us did... there are actually some clues and hints in those billboards, signs, and talking to civilians on the street. Where took most of my friend ~25 hours to play through, it took me about 32 hours from start to finish, but I did speed myself up a little bit about half way through.
