Battlefield 3 Beta Has "Hundreds" of Changes from Alpha

After visiting DICE last week, VG247 has word that the Battlefield 3 beta test promised for this month is likely still on track, and will include "hundreds" of changes and fixes since the alpha trial edition of the military shooter sequel. "Everything from gun-balancing to the placement of the objectives on the Rush map; we actually moved them around based on [the fact] that the first base was quite hard to take. We are still moving things around on that map to utilise feedback from the alpha. That’s why we’re doing it. It’s not to market the game, it’s actually to test it in a proper way. There are hundreds of things that we’ve changed since the alpha, DICE's Patrick Bach says. "Again, to the beta question, we are releasing the beta before the game and we are actually changing stuff based on that before we ship the game, even though you could argue that that’s very late close to the ship of the game, we will still have time to do, for instance, day one patches and changes to the Battlelog that will actually be game-changing." Access to the Windows version of the beta will be is guaranteed for those who preorder the game from the Origin Website.

I think you are confused. as I don't care what you post about or think your are allowed or not. Unless you break an NDA with the goal to bash BF3 based on its Alpha while promoting RO2 as a substitute. Sure you can like RO2 more and all that, but drawing comparisons between the bf3 alpha and the RO2 release candidate? Thats just lame

And for the record, thats what i meant. Bashing BF3 based on its Alpha is lame as hell, comparing the alpha to an other games final version is even lamer.

But then, you have a point in that legitimate complaints have their place and should be there

But most Origin complaints are hilariously stupid. Just read this topic! ;p

Wait, so if it wasn't on Origin, you and pretty much all of the people you know would have been all over it, BUT since it's on Origin it's a the same old boring BF?

The notion you're boycotting it because of an annoying game service is one thing, but then your contradiction puts your childish standpoint over the edge.

Alpha has no bearing on any legitimate beefs about BF3, if you had any legitimate beef it would be any issues from the Alpha that are in the final release. Or in the beta, which you can't even judge yet.

What an obnoxious response. You aren't the judge of what is allowed for discussion around here. Some people want to hear about the positives and negatives with Origin, battlelog, the alpha and whatever else people want to talk about related to BF3. For right or wrong many people might even begin to form purchase decisions based on it. If you want to hear only positive posts about BF3 and Origin then there are forums for that I'm sure. Some of us want more balanced discussion and if you don't like it then tough shit.

And if you want to have Alpha bugs fixed then theres official forums for that... Stuff like spotting and balancing is beta stuff though...

I already have my copy pre-ordered--through Origin. The game was pretty much a guaranteed purchase, so I figured I'll at least try the Origin service out and see what it's like, and get a few shiny extras in the process.

The only thing I'm really hoping they either remove or modify is the spotting system. In the Alpha it was identical to the system in Bad Company 2, and I bloody hate it. They could add a cool-down to the spotting, make it mini-map only, or even make it a fixed position marker....just, anything to keep it from acting as a spammable all seeing eye.

Ah the BF3 / Origin haters are back..

Give it a rest already, sheesh. I have some very legitimate beefs with the game and the things supporting it that I experienced first hand in the alpha. Most people are upset and airing grievances because they want them changed so that they can buy and enjoy BF3. I think you'll find very few people who are "hating" just for the sake of it and they're not really worth the time it takes to type a post in response.

Kind of pointless though, since its on Steam and requires Steam to even run. Pretty much everyone I know has already written this game off as a skip because of that. Kotick should get away from Activision and go back to endlessly rewriting the same bowling game over and over again.

Your rant is modular, nifty.

1. Fixed a bug where some players were able to play without installing Origin. Fixed that FIRST.
2. Took out the most popular two levels. Those will be released later as DLCs. $4.99 each.
3. Took out the ability to mod. Especially to mod hats. Hats will be released later as DLCs. $0.99 each.
4. Made Origin more intrusive. If you got a webcam, we're going to activate it to watch you playing Origin BF3 in your underwear in your parents' basement.

It's a level playing field, each match is always different because of the players. Sometimes a team will get steamrolled, other rounds I have seen it bitterly contested to the last ticket.

Everything from gun-balancing to the placement of the objectives on the Rush map;

Every round on the map will be the same. Same starting points and same objectives. That gets old fast.
