The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall Turns 15

The Bethesda Blog notes the 15th anniversary of the release of The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall turns 15 with a series of unboxing photos of the second installment in the RPG series, showing the old days when boxed games included more than just the game media. For those interested in revisiting the game, Bethesda released it for free a couple of years ago on The Elder Scrolls Website.

I bought it at release for $120Cdn....most I've ever paid for a stand alone game to this day. I don't recall exactly how many hours I put into it but played it for at least a year. I still have the disc and I'm sure the manuals etc buried in a box somewhere in the basement. I know I don't have the game box anymore; got trashed in a move.

It crashed repeatedly at first so I phoned tech support and got help immediately. Dude gave me some command line thing to add and it stopped the crash. While I was unhappy at the quality of the game at launch I was impressed at the speed by which my call was answered and problem addressed. Later patches fixed dozens of bugs.

I don't know if the same level of support exists today.
