I did not get the TF2 items. I ordered from GMG. I did not expect to get them because the page clearly states pre-order the game on Steam to get the items. With the new inventory feature on Steam, I can see my friend who pre-ordered on Steam does have the TF2 items.

You'd think the TF2 items would be for pre-orders through steam... except when I put in my serial key to add in my deus ex pre-order, it said I was going to get the 8 TF2 items on the preload screen.
So like I said, can anyone confirm receiving the TF2 items with a preorder of any type? (such as through steam).
Because I'm going to complain to valve about not getting my promised items.
Games always get released on Tuesdays in the US. It's a logistics thing from the days when we were supposed to give a shit about B&M stores. Why we're still tied to the likes of Gamestop is beyond me.

Pre-loaded and ready to go. But why, oh why, didn't they release it so we could play it over the weekend? Who the hell comes up with these release/unlock dates??

Those three days I'm going to have to wait past the US launch as a UK customer will be friggin' hard, too.

Dues Ex, even with the leak, didn't strike me as a "must play at launch". Partly due to being single player only, Dead Island is coop, and more people will be playing at launch.
Funny how people are different. The fact it is singleplayer only makes me MORE likely to want it.
Damn Straight! MP is all the same now a days thanks to consoles--run,gun,and die! Boring!More SP the better

IANAL.

You don't 'have' to do anything. It's an option, what Deus Ex is all about IMO, choice and consequence. Sometimes you use it, sometimes you don't. Not every fight requires it and/or is worth spending energy on, and if you're surprised you can get properly punished for it.
They don't. How would that even work anyway? Automatically drain energy when firing/being fired upon? Sounds even worse.

For some reason I can't get it to preload... There's a "View preload info" option, but clicking it doesn't do anything. Hmmm...

I get this problem every once in awhile. I just had to restart Steam and it let me preload.

It was definitely done to make the game more streamlined and fun, to take away having to press a button before firing to use your recoil reduction mod. You're not wrong. Where you are wrong, in my opinion, is in saying this is a bad thing. There are real differences between streamlining and dumbing down and this falls into streamlining for me... I hated having to juggle F-keys in the original to use stuff like bullet resistance and rocket defense.
That said it should cost energy so that there is a penalty for using augs. I was under the impression that even though certain augs would be automatic they would still have an energy cost? They don't. How would that even work anyway? Automatically drain energy when firing/being fired upon? Sounds even worse.
Dirwulf wrote on Aug 21, 2011, 13:16:Yeah and yeah people are using the TF2 items. Mainly seeing the sniper rifle, which appears quite useful in some situations as it penetrates players (but the tracer round gives your position away). Everyone gets to hear a special sound when you get a double kill with it. Other items don't seem interesting.
All keys from other places are working for pre-load. The TF2 items are if you pre orderd on STEAM only, as far as I can tell.

I can't think of a single reason why it isn't like that except that the current system is 'easier to use', aka shoot shit and press X to win if you get close and don't worry about everything else because it's always on. Maybe I'm biased, but I just can't think of another reason.

I tried the beta to see if it was a true deus ex sequel and my view is that its more invisible war than deus ex. Spoilers below!
