Grand Theft Auto IV San Andreas

The Grand Theft Auto IV San Andreas Website now offers the first beta version of this modification that adds the content of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas to Grand Theft Auto IV so it can be experienced through GTA IV's Rockstar Advanced Game Engine (RAGE). This release is actually a bit earlier than expected, as the website has an update from June saying to expect the first beta in autumn. These screenshots offer a look at the outcome. Thanks Orly and Rose.

To answer your question, the GTA IV graphical mod uses something known as the ENB Series to add some post-processing effects. The developer for that ENB Series quit developing it for GTAIV before the newest patch was released, which resulted in it's incompatibility with any newer versions of GTA IV than it was originally made for.

The ENB developer could just make a new version that supports the newer patched version, but I believe he had stated that it would take more work than he is willing.

Being that is the case, I would hope that this San Andreas mod does not require any downgrading.

They patched to block out modability? Or is it just something like an innocuous maintenance patch and now the unupdated mods don't work?

It's the latter, but still annoying. Good news is, this San Andreas mod supports the latest version AND comes with an installer that does everything for you.

Now that's more like it.

I am very interested in this, but yesterday I was looking at what you have to do to make GTA IV moddable (wanted to install that insane high detail graphics mod) and it seems like such a pain in the ass (downgrading the Steam installation to a previous version, etc). Hopefully this one has an installer that does all of that extra stuff for you...

Really?

They patched to block out modability? Or is it just something like an innocuous maintenance patch and now the unupdated mods don't work?

Been meaning to get around to this but what you're describing makes me not want to bother.
