Hellgate Easing Beta Access

HanbitSoft announces that the recently launch open beta test of Hellgate (which they now seem to be calling Hellgate Global) has been so successful that they've regularly had queues of hundreds of players waiting to join the MMORPG reboot. They say they've taken steps to address this, and now "users are now able to log in and play with minimal wait time." Noting that 13% of their players are logging in from the U.S., they also announce they are now doing more to accommodate this international traffic: "American users may soon be given the opportunity to step up in this ranking: a YNKi channeling service will be provided in the United States starting on August 1st, giving still more players the chance to take part in this epic battle."

I have been playing it a lot. Contrary to many, I really enjoyed hellgate:london. Of course, I never made the mistake of subscribing.

I have duke nukem forever and the witcher 2 both recent purchases on my computer. Alas, I have been spending far more time playing Hellgate Global.

I have never had any waits to play the game. They have added new content beyond what was available before. However, I have yet to be of a level to see it.

Know that it is only free through act 2. To enter act 3 and complete all of the remaining content it costs only $4 per account.

I had a job interview w/Flagship Studios once.

Still have Matt Householder's card lying around somewhere. They had cool card designs, that's for sure.

The game was a disaster, though.

Thanks Guys

Its hard to believe how former Blizz employees could fuck up such a cool idea for an IP.

I am in it and keep meaning to try it. From what I have heard its generally been received well. I just have been playing catch up with my backlog of single player games and every time I do want to do some multiplayer I see it wants to update and I say "Screw it" and go play some StarCraft 2 or DoD:S

It requires a persistent online connection, so naturally no one at Bluesnews has tried it out of principle. jk

It's basically exactly the same as the previous release, with most of the bugs gone. Textures a little worse for some reason, but everything else is about the same. I'm sure they made some small improvements here and there as well, better balancing etc.
