From Dust DRM Also Always On?

The Steam Listing for From Dust has details on the DRM in recently delayed PC edition of the upcoming god-game. This suggests that like Driver: San Francisco, this will use Ubisoft's DRM scheme that requires a persistent internet connection while the game is being played, saying: "Ubisoft Online Service" (thanks Bumpy via DSOGaming). We reached out to THQ to confirm the details on this, but have yet to receive a response (perhaps there's a glitch with their internet connection).

Silent Hunter 5 was one of the first if not the first to get it.

The autho servers were pooched at launch and so many could not log in to play their new game; er sorry, play their newly licensed game.

Ubisoft did send me a link + activation code for Prince of Persia....don't remember the version, nice gesture, not interested in it however.

I would rather they have taken the resources and time to finish the game before launch, and provide more support than a token patch that had a fix list smaller than those fixed by the modders (and some of which had already been fixed by the modders). Add to that the exact same bugs that were present in SH3 and 4, and that was the last time Ubi will bend me over.

As much as I was looking forward to Cliffs of Dover, I kept my wallet closed, and from what I've been reading, it was a good decision.

Ubisoft = shovelware these days. I will have to see universal acclaim from both critics and gamers alike to consider buying another of their products.

I may be one person, but I make sure to communicate my experience to everyone I know.
