RAGE Wasteland Trailer [Jul 21, 2011, 8:13 pm ET] – Share – Viewing Comments
The Bethesda Blog now offers The Wasteland, part four in the RAGE Behind the Scenes series, looking at id Software's upcoming first-person shooter. The new clip includes cinematics, gameplay footage, and developer commentary on the Wasteland, the game's post-apocalyptic setting. Word is: "the team at id Software team discuss creating the world of RAGE, its variety of intense missions as well as co-op and multiplayer combat rally racing."
Remember when id titles had 90+ comments?
At times the textures looked really good; other times, they looked blurry and a bit muddy, especially when up-close. Still, it looks like it will satisfy that Borderlands hunger.

I've yet to see a 3D game where textures never look muddy. Rage is going to be great. Borderlands was a complete waste of $50. Can't believe I went for that... the Hellgate London-ey videos should've been enough of a warning.

Nah... Borderlands is Cel-Shaded (Or whatever Gearbox wants to call their "art direction")
Anyway... I fucking hate cel-shaded games.

Nah. Borderlands was Hellgate London on steroids. It was pseudo-RPG-ish nonsense with a shoddy weapon system slapped on top. That never works well.
Rage is first and foremost a first-person shooter. It's not trying to be "Diablo with guns" or any such poop. It's more like Doom with static weapon upgrades from Dead Space. And more open spaces. And a "lite" quest system.

The only one recently is that BF3/Steam thread where everyone seems to be arguing despite there really being nothing to argue about.

So, I went back and watched all 4 videos. Can't anyone come up with a new idea? You are in a "Vault" called an Ark. When you emerge after 100 years after an asteroid hit the earth in 2038, you are encountered by "Bandits" and survivors. And you get around this Wasteland with vehicles that look like something out of Mad Max.
Good Lord. Can they be any more like Fallout/Borderlands? sheesh.
Don't get me wrong, I am going to get it - but damn guys, lets try NOT to recreate the wheel eh?

He was talking about gameplay, not setting. Borderlands was basically a first-person dungeon crawler. Your sole incentive for playing was loot and leveling. Those are not the focus of RAGE.

I agree. At first I was kinda excited but the more screenshots and videos were released the more I realised that it's a pretty mediocre fps.
Gonna wait for Saints Row 3. At least that one's insane.

Hmm. I didn't intend to imply that but it may look like it.
Your post makes me sad, though, because now I realise that there really are no upcoming first-person shooters that I might be looking forward to. Guess I'll have to stick to warsow and ezquake.
