SystemLink Alt has word that Take-Two has filed a trademark registration for "Rockstar Films" to cover: "Animated motion picture films featuring entertainment, namely, action, adventure, dramatic, comedic, children's and documentary themes; pre-recorded video discs and other pre-recorded digital and electronic media in the field of live action programs, motion pictures, or animation featuring entertainment, namely, action, adventure, dramatic, comedic, children's and documentary themes." They also note that Take-Two has also registered domains for RockStarFilms.com and RockStarFilms.net. Thanks GameInformer.

Imagine if you will that Rockstar took the movie recording stuff from GTA4 series and made it possible on all of their games, and had things like longer then 30 seconds for recording clips. Something like what Halo has. Be a perfect place to put them and the trademark covers that.

They just wanted to cover all possible film uses of the trademark.
That way later a different "Rockstar Films" can't show up and make the argument, "Well we only deal in children's film, nobody will mistake us for the other Rockstar Films."
edit: Surprisingly after doing some daterange'd Google searches there's only two previous usages of "Rockstar Films" some guy's YouTube video and Rockstar Films LLC in Brooklyn which doesn't have much info beyond listings.
It just seemed to me that "Rockstar Films" would have been taken already but I guess not.
