Anyone wonder if the game was an intentional hatchet job, hey the devs know enough of the foolish masses will buy anything. What a way to pay back the original creator, destroy his un-finished creation by releasing a lackluster version.

It's hard to tell how much Gearbox tagged on after the years and years of 'work' 3DR put on it but I would venture a guess and say the folks at Gearbox were working with a nearly complete title and were on patch work and polish duty.
That said, you can't polish a turd and try to pass it off as a diamond.
