Except relatively few people will have both a PS3 and PSV. The feature will not only be barely used but will also not be as simple (wouldnt the PSV have to be synced somehow? How long will it take to boot up and select "play ps3 game"). Simplicity always wins. It's why the Wii sold 100+ million and why the DS and Gameboys smashed their competition.

Not to mention the fact that the PSV would make a terrible controller because of what is easily the worst stick placement I've ever seen.

What Nintendo did wrong with the WiiU is how they presented it. People are confused and many are spouting incorrect information. They said its only one screen controller but they've shown up to 5 players using different controllers (undoubtedly there will be some form of classic controller to use with the thing). And they're at least looking into the idea of having more than one touchscreen controller. But hey, lets all react to a single, unsubstantiated headline!

Sony doesn't have to copy Nintendo's hardware this time. I'm sure the Vita interfacing with the PS3 can do anything the WiiUPad can do, and do it better, with minor differences.

The Wii U is a big 3DS, sans 3D (HDS?)

Wow, didn't see that one coming. That's a 'no sale' for me I guess.

Hopefully the majority of games won't make essential use of the controller screen. Because doing so would preclude the other touted feature of the controller; the ability to transfer the entire game to the screen if the TV is in use.

I would guess games would have several different configurations that you could switch to on the fly. Something like tv + controller, controller only, etc...

The problem there is it would mean less straight ports from other consoles, and devs might have to have a dedicated Wii U team. And if games don't sell as well on the Wii U, guess which version gets dropped first?

Like, with Zelda it seems you've just got a quick inventory selection on the screen, nothing that couldn't be handled through a separate menu easily.

If you could hold it with one hand and use the touchscreen as a trackpad it could work well for FPSs. Better than an analogue stick anyway.

Nintendo fanboys are already saying it's okay, that it won't effect the systems sales at all because.... "you can just pass around the controller". XD

It would certainly open up lots of different gameplay design options.

Wii U limited to one controller.

Ah, there's that other shoe! I knew it was around here somewhere.

Shouldn't they just call it the Mii then?

Yeah that's exactly what a lot of people wanted. They didn't need to "shake things up" again, they pioneered motion control so the least they could do is see it through to some useful product applications. Every console needs a gimmick apparently which is really confusing because they are supposed to be all about lowering barriers of entry but continually shaking up input controls and introducing strange new features has the opposite effect.

Its doubtful they would be able to get enough processing power for 4 screens in there, but who knows, if they do it will be sweet.

//Idea, make it so that your WiiU controller is more like a gameboy, but it has to be at Some WiiU console machine to do the heavy processor lifting. Put some flash memory in the WiiU controller, so you can store virtual games and saves, and take them with you to your friends house for multiplayer games. A Lan party in a box..

Nintendo baffled by share price slide

Frankly I'm baffled that they would be baffled at this.
"The assumption that animals are without rights, and the illusion that our treatment of them has no moral significance, is a positively outrageous example of Western crudity and barbarity. Universal compassion is the only guarantee of morality."

LOL... just... lol...

It's the Virtual Boy all over again! Albeit at least this time it has nice graphics, although that remains to be seen seeing as how Nintendo enjoyed showing off PC demos during E3...

You linking some early press images doesn't mean he's wrong. Nintendo themselves even said that in a linked interview earlier, it's being considered. It is quite early, this system isn't arriving at Christmas or something.

It's too early to be finalized one way or the other. If there is demand there for the feature they will probably try. Frankly I'll be amazed if anyone wants to use that controller for any extended period of time, let alone two people.

I read what he said, he said they are doing research...

I'm talking about their presentation from E3 the other day. They had slides showing how it would be used. And it featured one person playing on the Wii U screen while 4 others use regular Wii remotes on a TV.
