Metro: Last Light Announced

THQ officially announces Metro: Last Light, the previously revealed upcoming sequel to Metro 2033, the futuristic first-person shooter. The Metro: Last Light Announcement Trailer offers a look at the game using very rapid cuts and concept art, all set to the tune of Machine Gun by Portishead. There are also some new screenshots on the Metro Facebook Page, and here's a bit from the announcement, which says the game is due this year:
Metro: Last Light will immerse the player in the haunting, desolate ruins of post-apocalyptic Moscow, one of the most richly detailed, and beautifully realised gaming worlds of modern times. Developer 4A Games will deliver a terrifying, atmospheric single-player adventure that fuses thrilling combat with exploration and survival horror to create a unique, memorable experience.

Hope there's more outdoor areas-those were the best parts-and that it's a little more open and freeform and less of a linear/corridor shooter.

My take on this is that they wanted to stress on the whole 'subway tunnels are bad' which is why having limited freedom never bothered me much in this title. The surface levels were pretty good though and those ape things scared the shit out of me on more than one occasion.

I think the topside sections were so good because they were sparse.

Very much looking forward to my favorite shooter in years and years. While the stealth system was aggravating (perhaps because it was so realistic?) I loved every minute of the game.

The stealth segments weren't aggravating. They were just boring. Good stealth requires good AI and the AI in Metro 2033 wasn't good. I really hope they improve the AI for the sequel.

metro 2033 was a welcome post apocalyptic game with great atmosphere. The creatures were fucking scary as hell! The game was way too linear and scripted for sure, but overall a very impressive first go.

Stll prefer Stalker but both are welcome in my book and different enough to enjoy.
