Modern Warfare 3 November Date Confirmed

Activision announces November 8, 2011 as the official worldwide release date for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, the upcoming military shooter sequel. This confirms a previous rumor that was recently bolstered by the image of a MW3 poster that carried that date, as well as the listing for the game on Amazon.com. "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is by far the most epic Call of Duty experience yet. The teams at Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer Games have worked tirelessly to create for the Call of Duty player a scale that is unimaginable with a level of polish and creativity that will push the genre forward," said Eric Hirshberg, CEO of Activision Publishing, Inc. "The passion and energy of our developers is reflected in everything about the title. From the innovative gameplay, to the cinematic intensity, to the most advanced multiplayer ever, Modern Warfare 3 will raise the bar for this already incredible franchise."

Don't really see how you can say Cliffy is on his way - didn't you play Unreal? Don't you remember all the pictures of him in medallions like Flava Flav? His douchiness now is just a persona.
As for Romero, the man is humble as hell. Any douchiness is long since beaten out of the man. 15 years of failure tends to do that.

Fortunately games aren't made by men, they're made by teams. But maybe you think Tim Sweeney is a douchey prick, too.

Well now If you've been there then you should know the price of humbleness. (not after 15 years of failure humbleness, which that's ridiculous. Thats just beaten dog syndrome not humbleness )

I work with a fantastic team and we are starting up a game studio, with a new IP we are registering. You working at a studio too? I have a feeling you'd actually understand me much more in person, and if I could demonstrate why my team and I believe in this idea.

See you at E3, lets talk in person, PM me your info.

Beyond that, there's several people that point to Norton software, and found a note about a few others:

http://www.pbbans.com/forums/getting-kicked-by-pb-with-no-hacks-t84226.html

Some of the more common programs that can cause "Disallowed Program Driver" are:

Steam - Disable "Ingame Community Chat" in settings
TeamSpeak, Ventrillo, or Mumble overlays - Disable
EVGA Precision - Disable
ATI Tray Tools - Disable
Riva Tuner - Disable
Fraps - Update to latest version

Don't know how reliable that info is.

Another page with supposed fixes:

http://www.heartlessgamer.com/2009/09/fixed-punkbuster-error-disallowed.html

Which basically details other overlays that cause the same issue, from FRAPS to EVGA Precision and a previous thread mentioned some ATI tools as well. Some have also made mention of Logitech drivers, specifically keyboard drivers running the G-series (LCDMon.exe, and whatever it's counterpart is)

Thanks, guy. There are a couple in there that I haven't (systematically) tried disabling. I'll give 'em a go.

I'm sorry, are you the guy that likes Bulletstorm when I actually call out Cliffy? or did I strike a Call of Duty nerve?

either way,

1.) I even stated, I'm not making a blanket statement, just a artist buddy of mine said their lead animator was extremely cocky and pompus in person.

2.) When you work in a studio and realize what happens when money changes a person's creative attitudes, then talk. There are many great artist's and dev's who get cocky and their games become more or less IP dead ends.

On the other end of that spectrum, studios like Pixar maintain great work because they don't rest on their laurels. They literally have meetings to discuss, the specific topic of "not being cocky about their studio"

Treyarch has done a much better job with the franchise then Infinity Ward IMO.

Please Beamer, realize there are douche devs. John Romero is a douche for example, and that's an infallible truth. Cliffy is on his way there, I reserve my right to call a dev a douche.

I have a grudge against Battlefield 2 for introducing persistent ranking, which deadened the modding/mapping scene, but the game itself was fine if not without balance issues.

1942/DC/FH/etc is still the best in my book.

Finally gamers are funneling towards the developer that clearly likes making fun games that make money, while one likes having fun making money making games. Not the same.

I know what you're saying, but honestly, I'd call it more the reverse.

COD Black Ops was packed full of content, but the Battlefield franchise has suffered feature loss year after year after year. I first got into 1942 lanning with mates on maps filled with bots. Fast forward to Bad Company 2, and never mind bots, I can't even create my own server anymore.

Granted, Battlefield now has the single player campaign, but COD has always had that, and I can deathmatch with bots on any Black Ops map to my heart's content. Not to mention, zombie mode.

It's human to dislike the very popular and very successful, and I got into the BF3 gameplay reveal footage as much as the next guy, but some of you guys don't half talk shit sometimes. Like it or not, the Battlefield franchise has evolved in much the same way that the COD franchise has.

I'm not making a blanket statement to all the artists involved, but a buddy at my studio met a lead animator at Infinity Ward and he said he was a ginormious douche. He said he was utterly cocky, and upfront about it.

It's a bit early to be saying that people are "funneling toward" anyone in particular. As much as I prefer the Battlefield series, I have no doubt in my mind that the next CoD will outsell it, likely by a very large amount.

I recently bought BF2 on Steam, but I get booted from most servers after about 30 seconds by Punkbuster bitching about something I'm running in the background. Anyone have any common culprits?

This happens in lots of PB games. Still happens to me in Q3.

That was the first thing I did. Disabled the Steam overlay, disabled mouse/keyboard software, blah. Screw PB.

Yeah I figured you may have done that already. But just now rereading your post I see that you mentioned it was something running in the background. The error messages I'm used to seeing aren't that specific.

If you get some sort of 'invalid driver' error or something like that, it's because of the Steam overlay. Punkbuster doesn't like it apparently. Disable the overlay from your game options and you should be fine.

Been there. I still get booted.

Innovative gameplay? LOL! Uh huh. I guess that would be the case if you consider slightly interactive cut scenes innovative gameplay. But I don't call that gameplay in the first place so....yeah.

I honestly have doubts about BF3, but we'll see I guess.

For me I'm way more excited about Arma 3. Arma 2 is annoying at times, but it's still a massive improvement over Arma 1 so I have a lot of hope for 3.

BF2 is one of the best FPS's of all time in my opinion. I'm really hoping BF3 will be a true successor and not just Bad Company 2.5.

Regarding MW3, well, blah. Seems like people just keep buying the same game over and over. Are they breaking their sales records with each new release? This franchise is like the McDonald's of video games. Nothing fancy, doesn't taste very good, but bring that seasonal McRib back and watch em line up.
