as long as it is not super short, I'll be happy with a re-tread of those old Dark Alliance games.

The Dark Alliance games were a blast on the original xbox back in the day when you just wanted to button mash. I guess that would explain why any preview clip I saw on youtube looked like a 10 year old game with slightly sharper graphics. I'll pass until it's in the $10 or less bin (or bundled with a controller).

Are you seriously that tight assed that you would wait for the game to drop five whole dollars? Pretty pathetic!!!

I’m not sure what videos you’ve been watching, but the game doesn’t even come close to looking like a 10 year old game. Again, pathetic!

Ha ha, funny, Im not laughing.

Cutter, we were told by the devs that the game is 6 to 8 hours if you do all the side content. It could even take 10 hours depending on your pace.

Difficult also scales with how many players join the game.

And please someone explain to me how Diablo 3 is really any different?

I like how your post was agreeing upon a common issue which WyldKat brought up and then you decided to get all defensive and rude after this portion.

For a comparison, Diablo 3 will allow you to be either a male or female character of each class as opposed to the 'locked down' characters which we were given in Diablo 1 and 2.

This. Torchlight 2 and Diablo 3 offer a lot more in terms of personalization options and creating your own character. Classes aren't locked down so that only females can play Demon Hunters or only males can play Barbarians. Plus both games offer customization in terms of appearance as well as specialization.

They are true action RPGs, this is basically a 3D Golden Axe that takes place in the D&D universe. Nothing wrong with that but when Atari bills the game as an RPG, especially a classic western RPG, they better bring the staples of the genre. Note the press release calling the game an "action-packed RPG", not an action RPG or even just an action game which would be much more appropriate. By that definition Dragon Age 2 and the Mass Effect series are action-packed, as well as many other RPGs which offer far more depth.

And yeah, for $15 or $50 I can still be critical of a game and decide to support it with my money or not. Just because a game is cheap doesn't mean it has to be excused for its mediocrity.

This isnt a D&D game. Its just a simple action game with some D&D elements tucked onto it, like the Dark Alliance games were. Yes, can be fun at times, but please, dont call them "D&D games". This term should be reserved for actual D&D roleplaying games like NWN.

That would be kinda hard, given that no one outside of Blizzard has played it!

I'm buying 3 copies of Daggerdale, maybe 4, to coop with. It'll still be cheaper than 1 copy of Diablo 3, and that I DO know. I'm not really too concerned about pre-set characters. Who cares.

I guess this is kindergarten because I like how we have to go back and explain in detail what we said.

The only part I agreed with him was the pre defined chars. Other than that he’s way off base. Making a comment about not liking pre defined, then he goes on and says that he will wait on two other games that are very similar to the way their chars are predefined.

No difference at all.

Anyone remember D&D: Demon Stone? It was basically like the movie-based Lord of the Rings action games. Truly fun, but also truly short. Damn good game imo, maybe shallow, but still good, like a linear Dynasty Warriors. If they can give me more of that I'll gladly buy it.

Looked interesting for the CoOp aspect until I saw that you can't change class/race/sex at all but are stuck with four preset characters. Bleh. I'll wait for Torchlight 2 or Diablo 3.

I know what you mean, and yes the forums were alive with all kinds of upset people about this. me too.

But, they designed the game to be a lot like Dark alliance is. The four preset chars you could pick in that game. I’m not happy with this call about the classes being locked down but I’m of the thought too that hey, it has 4 players Coop around 8 to 10 hours game play so I’m defiantly down with that.

Plus the fact that this game ONLY cost 15 dollars makes the game very appealing. Seriously, you really can’t bitch too hard when the cost of this game is very minimal.

And please someone explain to me how Diablo 3 is really any different? Those classes are also locked down. You can’t play a Barbarian Wizard, so really dude your comment is lame and makes no sense at all. And I believe Torchlight is the same way with locked down classes.
