Four preset characters? Supposedly mindless combat? No Character development?
This is the rebirth of Gauntlet, in 3d, people. May the world tremble, or guffaw, as appropriate.

It's being made as a modern day equivalent to the Dark Alliance games, the devs even admitted to being BG:DA fans and they want to recreate that same type of casual gameplay with this one.
The Dark Alliance games were a blast on the original xbox back in the day when you just wanted to button mash. I guess that would explain why any preview clip I saw on youtube looked like a 10 year old game with slightly sharper graphics. I'll pass until it's in the $10 or less bin (or bundled with a controller).

Hrm, I wonder how short this thing is going to be for $15.
Let's put it this way: If they let you roll your own characters, the game would be twice as long.![]()

I like how your post was agreeing upon a common issue which WyldKat brought up and then you decided to get all defensive and rude after this portion.
For a comparison, Diablo 3 will allow you to be either a male or female character of each class as opposed to the 'locked down' characters which we were given in Diablo 1 and 2.

Xirgu wrote on May 23, 2011, 18:48:This isnt a D&D game. Its just a simple action game with some D&D elements tucked onto it, like the Dark Alliance games were. Yes, can be fun at times, but please, dont call them "D&D games". This term should be reserved for actual D&D roleplaying games like NWN.
would be good to have a D&D game.. its been a while, hope its good.
And please someone explain to me how Diablo 3 is really any different?

Sweet. Don't know why exactly, but I'm rather looking forward to this game for some reason.
I hate when people say that. "Oh gawd, I don't know why but I want this."
Then why are you even gaming?

Educate yourself.

Looked interesting for the CoOp aspect until I saw that you can't change class/race/sex at all but are stuck with four preset characters. Bleh. I'll wait for Torchlight 2 or Diablo 3.
