Assassin's Creed Revelations Announced

Ubisoft announces Assassin's Creed Revelations, saying the fourth installment in the stealth/action series will represent the "final chapter in the Ezio trilogy" when it is released this November for Windows, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3. They offer a logo and a piece of artwork from the game, and say to expect more revelations at E3. In the meantime, here's a chunk of the announcement:
In Assassin’s Creed Revelations, master assassin Ezio Auditore walks in the footsteps of his legendary mentor, Altaïr, on a journey of discovery and revelation. It is a perilous path – one that will take Ezio to Constantinople, the heart of the Ottoman Empire, where a growing army of Templars threatens to destabilize the region.

In addition to Ezio’s award-winning story, the acclaimed online multiplayer experience returns, refined and expanded, with more modes, more maps and more characters that allow players to test their assassin skills against others from around the world. The latest chapter in the Assassin’s Creed saga also includes revolutionary gameplay, allowing players to manipulate the construct of Desmond’s memories and the Animus to decipher the mysteries of his past and gain insight into the future.

Another cash-in expansion pack sequel. Meh.

Spoken like someone who has never played them. AC2 and Brotherhood have ridiculous amounts of content and are by no means cash-in.
I have played both. And brotherhood really does feel like it was content cut from AC2 or should have been an expansion because of how short it is compared to AC2.

For a one year dev cycle game it was pretty cool, but I didn't enjoy it anywhere near as much as I did AC2.

It was short compared to AC2, but it was still a lot longer than the most of the games these days. That, and considering the great effort they put in recreating renaissance Rome, I don't mind it being sold separately. Not to mention some good improvements in gameplay.

I played the first two games, but I am tired of the Desmond and Ezio storylines as well as the repetitive gameplay.
Yes, even with the aliens/gods thingie at the end of AC2.
I thought the first game was heavily flawed, but the second game did make quite a few tweaks to fix a lot of things. However, through both games, I found the gameplay a bit simplistic. Toss in the stupid item collection and I feel like I have played everything this series has to offer.

Thus far, I have skipped the third game. People keep on saying it's the "perfection" of the gameplay, but it just appears to be a lot of the same stuff over and over. And now I see another game with stupid Ezio? Oi.

Thinking I will wait for a big online discount on the third game,
Ray

Hopefully the MP will be a lot bigger in this version. Don't care at all to play more AC2 single player but the MP side was fun.

The main problem with that plan is that it makes them think their DRM is acceptable.

damn it, i thought this was going to be AC3. oh well.

anyway, to those complaining about drm, here's a thought: buy the game, apply the crack.
now you didn't "steal" the game, AND you have no drm.
what's so difficult about that?

This is the game for that:

I was very impressed with the MP in particular, I expected some bolted on deathmatch like bullshit but they really pulled out the stops and came up with something original and fun.

Killer was one of my very favorite LARP games of all time. Seeing it, in it's most elementary form, reproduced in video game form was pretty awesome. I'd like to see them do a more elaborate version. If you can run around free-range in GTA4 and Red Dead Redemption, I don't see why the whole city can't be opened up in AC multiplayer. Then, if they could manage 32 player multiplayer, that would be frickin awesome.

I thought Brotherhood was great, even without the multiplayer.

Assassin's Creed is by far one of the best action series ever made, imo. The game engine is phenomenal! They should make an mmo with that engine!!

Oooh Constantinople! I've always wanted to go to Turkey and will one of these days soon. Kind of a shame this ends Ezio's story as he's a solid character and the games have been great thus far. It'd be interesting to see the story move to ancient Rome or medieval Europe.
Anyway, looking forward to it.

Having a friend walk into the room as I assassinated someone through the Oculus in the Pantheon and hearing him say "holy shit that might have been the coolest thing I've ever seen" was classic.

While the overall modern-day plot sucked in Brotherhood, the game itself was at it's height. Assassinating people in and around classic architecture in Rome was simply too cool. I wish they had done more with Carnival though, that was one of my favorite portions of AC2.

Oh, fuedal Japan could be very interesting with the samurai and ninjas and what not. Just watched 13 assassins and that was good times!

Are there any numbers for Brotherhood's sales on the PC? I haven't really seen it in any top ten list anywhere, AFAIK.

Ahh fair enough. I don't know, they seem to have removed their head from their ass about DRM, maybe they are wising up to the fact that PC players hate six month after the fact releases.

Err, you know Brotherhood is set IN Rome, right?

Er, Ancient Rome and Renaissance Rome are different. But I don't think I want to see more of Rome in any time period to be honest.
Do you have a single fact to back that up?
