Not Coming Soon to PCs

EA today announced Legends DLC for SHIFT 2: Legends, their racing sequel, but only mentioned this coming to Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. We inquired whether this would also be released for Windows, and got the following reply: "The Legends DLC is for Xbox 360 and PS3 and we’ll have more release details in the future." EA sends an announcement saying the console editions of Alice: Madness Returns will include one of those codes used to discourage used game sales that will allow the download of the original American McGee's Alice. Those who purchase the game second-hand will be able to buy a code to redeem, and the Alice: Madness Returns disc will be required to play. We wrote to see if there were plans to include the original game with the Windows edition of the sequel, but a few hours later have still received no response.

The original Alice needs to be on GOG anyway. Once a game is there that to me is the definitive and final version.

The NFSs died for me when they dropped LAN support. And EA is doing merits to forget anything and everything coming from them right now, so..

EA have really lost the plot - the latest Tiger Woods 12 on PS3 and 360 requires you to purchase the DLC courses to play the career mode properly, otherwise you get penalised for not playing in the events.

A 12 month boycot of EA games should suffice to get them to change their ways ...

The game was already selling for $18 on EA's store less than a month after it came out. Suggesting that they are "assclowns" for "not supporting the PC" is quite silly considering that it's pretty obvious the game sold like utter shit.

I would imagine they don't want to do Alice on the PC because they don't want to handle tech support and testing for an 11 year old PC game. On consoles they can test it on one hardware config and push it out as a bonus.

Not defending them really, just putting that out there. Despite the fact it's a PC game (and runs fine on my Win7 machine) it's actually more complicated. In any event I own the original boxed version, so I couldn't care less.

But then again: The Quake 3 engine IS Open Source. I can imagine that some clever hackers have already taken care of the compatibility issues it might have had under Windows 7.
Now we donce.

I've got the input lag with Shift2 that many people have (and also afflicted the first one), so I didn't enjoy it that much. It does have a lot of potential though despite its stupid menus, goofy narration by a pointy haired drifter, and just too much "XTR3ME!" going on in general.

Apparently a patch may be on the way to sort out the input lag. If they can do that, it would be a winner. Despite the lag and ADD oriented presentation, it's clear that it has decent semi-simulation physics underpinning the handling and some nice content.

The DLC addon has some marvelous stuff in it (pretty much GT Legends, which was mostly made by the same developers), so if it doesn't find its way to the PC eventually, that will be a really solid kick in the balls for PC gamers.

Actually it's pretty good in single player. Same as the last one though, the annoying AI gets ridiculous with the better cars. I finally got frustrated driving against the GT1 cars on Nurburgring and reloaded GTR Evo. The AI and physics make much more sense in that game.
