I've tried both and I like both quite a lot. Haven't finished either, going to hit sack.

So far, the only things you can buy are skins/accessories/emotes (I'd read somewhere that at least some of the emotes unlock?) for Coop.
And they're not exactly cheap.
Think hats for TF2 and thats what valve is doing for portal 2.
