Portal 2 Nears

GLaDOS@Home now shows that computations are still needed for only five more games from the Potato Sack, and the countdown to unlock Portal 2 stands at just under 10 hours. Meanwhile the potato counter is ticking off potatoes at around 20 per second, as the site says it is: "Engaging starch-based power cells." There's indication what that does.

If people didn't buy the stupid dlc, companies wouldn't make stupid dlc. But people like them, so they get made

Hay, it works in TF2, why not do it in other games? If you don't want them (I don't) then don't buy.....simple as that.
Yeah I know, I'm glad they've so far stuck to things that are mostly non-essential in TF2 (and many can be earned or made with drops), and looks like that trend is continuing in portal 2 (minus the drops part).

There's separate single player and co-op campaigns. Basically two games in 1.
I've tried both and I like both quite a lot. Haven't finished either, going to hit sack.

Oh and potatoes play a big part in the game, its not just the promotion

Someone mind talking about the DLC? I'm hearing there is a shit load of it?

So far, the only things you can buy are skins/accessories/emotes (I'd read somewhere that at least some of the emotes unlock?) for Coop.

And they're not exactly cheap.

You unlock 8 common emotes in co-op. The ones you buy are unique to each robot (atlas, p-body). You can buy a bundle of the entire set of hats, flags, accessories, emotes, skins for like $35 or so (if you bought each one individually its like $80 worth of stuff)
Think hats for TF2 and thats what valve is doing for portal 2.

Indeed, but i missed some achievements ,) Its much more fun in coop which i just tried, got past the 2 first batches of levels. They are fairly difficult.

Note: I think it was something like 6h 30 - and that was with sometimes being stuck for a while.

For reference its worth to play through twice, at least.

No ctd's and the SP campaign is fairly well done. But very short it was never boring though.

Wait, this is a $50/$60 release... and you beat it already?

The downside. Coop stuff has a store, with real prices. And i am talking 2.50€ or 5€ prices. You can buy all kinds of crap and the same lame micro-payment shit as in TF2 + trading +.+

Now if only someone would play coop with me ^^

ps. Golden potatoes get the complete orange box for free + gift passes for hl2 and hl2 ep1

I was too. Try exiting out of Steam and then restarting.

Yeah if you couldn't tell from my silence, I've been playing

Restarting once didn't work for me but changing my server (as suggest on forums) and the force restart changing servers requires, seemed to fix it for me.

Game is amazing.

For some reason the line about the air being the same "room" of air the entire time had me cracking up.

Buzz on the Steam forums seems to be that those who got all the regular potatoes (35-ish) and the golden potato from the ARG just got gifted the Valve Complete Pack including Portal 2. However, only HL2+EP1 are re-giftable, so there's a lot of people that just found out they won...a bunch of stuff they already had. Kinda seems dumb to give away a prize to the group of people most likely to have already purchased that prize, but then again, episodic gaming seemed like the savior of the gaming industry at one point. To repurpose the immortal words of William Goldman, the games industry is clearly just like Hollywood, "nobody knows anything."
