Did you guys figure out what the auxiliary power thing means on the bottom of the screen?

I assumed the more popular the game prior to the countdown, the more hours needed to be logged. Although looking at the page again it seems more like unique users rather than hours.

I would imagine that only new purchases count towards the potato-themed auxiliary power, but the current CPUs is some combination of unique launches and length of play.

This way they can market the potato sack while encouraging playing of game by both old and new purchases alike. That would tend to make sense since these games have been updated/tweaked in various ways as part of the lead up to Portal 2.

Otherwise, I would guess-timate that the needed totals vary from game to game based upon prior sales numbers. Regardless of the reason, it is obviously that X number of current CPUs varies from one game to another, at least as a matter of percentage of completion.

Meanwhile, with regards to unlocking the game early, it looks like this would not happen prior to Sunday night, if not more likely sometime on Monday. I am hoping they will reduce the requirements, else it is not much of an early unlocking and misses the big, open period of the weekend.
Even more of a letdown since the countdown was to a countdown.
Not sure what I would have done Friday night...but just waiting on Amazon now,
Ray

Something tells me only NEW purchases count towards this, as currently there are 6,430 people playing Killing Floor and it isn't even 10% done. There are also 4,013 people playing Audiosurf and it isn't even 40% complete, yet there are 4,276 people playing AAAAAA! and it is over 60% complete.....

Weird. I know it calculates total concurrent users and also purchases or plays, but I am thinking it is new purchases only.

Well do other source games run ok for you? HL2, L4D 1/2, TF2, portal 1, etc.

Pick up that $300 dell, throw a $50 gaming card into it, and you have a gaming PC.

Actually all this anticipation for Portal 2 made me finish Portal1. I've never finished it before always got stuck on chamber 18 and gave up I've never realized pretty much the whole game is chamber 19.

Anyways I've finished it last night and holy shit what did I miss with this game, it was awesome !! Now I really can't wait for Portal 2.

I own Amnesia and while not having played it due to being chickens**t I fired it up again for this and found found a new game called Justine. I tried to get through it but got stuck in a room with who knows what scaring the bejesus out of me while I cowered in a corner and went insane. Had to call it quits.

I wonder if they have a way to know if you're actively playing the game. I loaded up RUSH and played for a little bit since I haven't played it much since I bought it. Then I minimized and muted it. Steam still shows I'm in the game RUSH. If I leave it running over night, I wonder if those hours will count?

It counts concurrent users AND total that have played. I don't think you need to have it going the whole time.

Portal 2 is already available for 360 on the internets.

DAMN YOU PC PIRATES!!!!!!!!!

Talked to some people who have played it - said it is better than the first, has great scripts, super funny, and is a blast. Probably going to be a 10/10 game.

ok so it seems the most popular game in The Potato Sack atm is a bad looking Katamari rip off - I thought Katamari looked bad but "The Wonderful End of the World" makes it look wonderful.

Edit: I actually love the Katamari games - but I don't want to play a western remake of a quintessentially Japanese game.

I agree, from watching the movie.

I'm saddened that The Ball isn't doing better as well.

Some rather popular website or something decided to concentrate on single games instead of spreading out, "The Wonderful End of the World" was the first game in the list for some reason.
