Not to mention that multi is the only way to play on higher dif world (with better loot) without finishing the campaign
Had some good times on Dungeon Siege in LAN. People screaming for loot and such.. fun and rather intense. Removing multi from it is removing its main appeal.

Probably because if they had released it with the multiplayer portion in the game but not working properly, they would get flooded with customer support complaints and PC gamers incessantly whining about selling them a broken game. Instead of that, now they only get PC gamers incessantly whining about selling them an incomplete game.

I can understand Square Enix not giving enough of a shit to update the multi-player so that it works reliably. It might be hard to justify the effort when both games are only steam per-order bonuses.

Are you fucking serious? Really? I had MUCH more fun running through DS1 with a couple friends than I EVER did SP. God, Fuck that. Shit that really pisses me off, even LAN? That makes me want to punch someone. I was thinking about preordering 3 but fuck them then.
If it's not obvious, yeah I'm upset. Half of the fun of the DS series was easily in MP.
Dungeon Siege 2 uses gamespy.

Sweet! Thanks for the info. I lost the discs to those games and would love to play through before 3 comes out. Also...nice to see a dev who understands that PC retail pricing is not $60. That's console pricing. We're not paying hardware licensing fees here people.
Though it would be nice if steam dropped it even more (like $45) due to no physical media like manuals and such.

The multiplayer for DS1 and 2 relied on Microsoft Zone, which either doesn't exist anymore, or they couldn't get the license for these versions of the game to work with them. Probably the former.
