I have a lot of games from D2D but I've noticed I play mostly my games on Steam and never bother with other games I own. I try and buy games that are Steam Works games so I can just get them activated on Steam.

Sometimes you can stack promos on D2D. For instance they have the racing games on sale for 75% off, you can add the marchmadness coupon to get an extra 20% off of the already discounted sale prices. D2D also do price matching.

All in all I think they are pretty good however as I said I try to keep all my games on Steam. That way all my games get auto patched and they are all in one place not scattered all around in different digital distribution channels.

Well D2D has its fans in Europe, as it is very easy to switch to the UK Shop. Keep the usually low british prices in mind, add the current currency weakness, add the 20% sales and you have a sweet deal.

A lot of friends bought Shogun 2 that way. As that game uses Steamworks anyways, they get the best of 2 worlds.

I did it similarly for BC2 Vietnam.

I have a lot of games on Direct2Drive, but the truth is given a choice between it or Steam, all things being equal I always opt for the Steam version of a game (Not to mention that in more than one instance recently, the Direct2Drive version I bought WAS the Steam version due to Steamworks). What's really funny is that I have, on more than one occasion, bought a game I had already previously purchased via D2D again via Steam on a Steam sale (I am a massive Steam sale whore...). Crazy, huh?

That seems kind of backwards, as you clearly get less "ownership" of a game with Steam than you do with D2D, but I guess that Steam has sold me on all of its combined features that I find the overall package the preferable choice between the two regardless.

Yes, he does because the two versions of that digital distributor do have different sales on occasion. Last week the IGN version of the store had a different FPS game on sale for 75% off each day while Direct2Drive did not offer those particular sales.

not to mention all they ever do is 15%-20% off sales.
That is certainly not true. For example Direct2Drive has some great sales on right now through the weekend for a bunch of driving/racing games. Dirt 2 is $5. NFS Shift is $10. See http://www.direct2drive.com/promos/weekly-deal/

In addition, the 20% off storewide coupons are great for people who buy new releases especially ones from the major publishers as Steam doesn't offer those discounts.

I don't know anyone that uses them.
Then you don't know anyone who actually knows how to save money and isn't too lazy to check a couple of URL's in a web browser.

Wonder if they're going to phase out D2D. Just logged in at the IGN PC Store, and clicked my account, and all the games that I have gotten from D2D show up there.
