Black Prophecy N.A. Closed Beta Begins

Following on the recent launch of Black Prophecy in Europe, closed beta testing of the space combat MMOG is now underway in North America. There's still the opportunity to signup as tester, and word is the first round of beta invitations are on the way. They say: "The focus of this testing phase will be on balancing as well as optimizing the server hardware and software. gamigo expects Black Prophecy to be ready to go live in North America in a few weeks' time."

It was actually a lot of fun when I played closed beta and I LOVED that not only do you have pitch, roll, and yaw but you also have vertical and horizontal strafing which, for the more advanced pilots, lets you pull off some really cool maneuvers like you might see on Battlestar Galactica. You can also make a pretty nice looking character and they are saying they will be adding in station walking about after launch. Oh and its the first space game I've seen in awhile that has actual cockpits.

I just hope they don't mess it up with the microtransactions... I'm looking at you, Allods.

This is bittersweet news.

I was hoping someone would post something good about this game but now I want to play and it and don't have the time. Besides I'd almost prefer to play it released instead of unfinished.
Since the game is already live in europe, you won't play an unfinished game in NA beta(well, not more unfinished than normal). They're probably more testing server performance and tweaking it to the NA-market.

I just "signed up" for the beta and immediately got a beta invite. Just letting everyone know.

Wow... ANOTHER MMO. How much random unspent monthly income do games companies really think their target audiences have, let alone free time?

Seriously, there can only BE so many financially successful MMOs concurrently, publishers. Pull your heads out of your asses.

The game is F2P.

Is it? Lol! I didn't even read the link, serves me right.

Saw another MMO, and figured it was more of the same. Still, they are saying free to play, with "more details closer to release" aka microtransactions probably.

And what little I could play (over the pond lag and framerate issues) I really enjoyed. Time to put the new video card to the test.
