The National in Portal 2

Valve announces an original song by The National is part of Portal 2, the first-person puzzle game sequel due for release next month. "The inclusion of the original song, Still Alive, in the first Portal game was part of what made the game special," said Chet Faliszek, writer at Valve. "For Portal 2, we wanted to extend the use of music. When Bug Music mentioned to us that The National might be interested, we jumped at the opportunity to work with them."

For Cutter...
Violence, naked force, has settled more issues in history than any other factor, and the contrary opinion is wishfull thinking at its worst. Breeds that forget this basic truth have always paid for it with their lives and freedoms.

I'm not even familiar with The National, but I did read what was posted:

About The National
High Violet' is The National's most acclaimed and fastest-selling album to date. Released in May 2010, it debuted at #3 on the Billboard Top 200, and prompted the New York Times to claim "The National is in a league of its own." The band has toured non-stop since the album's release, with highlights that include sold out shows at Radio City Music Hall and Brooklyn's Prospect Park; a concert at the Brooklyn Academy of Music to benefit the Red Hot Organization, with accompanying live webcast on Youtube and Vevo directed by D.A. Pennebaker and Chris Hegedus; and mainstage performances at Bonnaroo, Sasquatch, and Lollapalooza, where they "seduced everyone" according to USA Today.

So... 3rd on Billboard Top 200, not exactly unknown.

So I take it this National is a band? A band virtually no one has ever heard of. Gee, how exciting.

Yeah, because bands are only good if they're popular and mainstream.

It's generally a pretty good indicator they have some talent, versus someone no one has ever heard of. Amazing how that works, isn't it? I'm sure you could play any professional sport or in any band, the problem is you're just not popular enough, right? Pfft.

LoL. I love it when people discredit something because they are not familiar with it. Im sure this person would be damned excited if lady gaga was on the portal soundtrack.

That said, the national is a good band...just wonder how thier sound is going to fit into Portal. I have high hopes but I keep having this verse in my head.

In all fairness, I'd not heard of Coulton until Portal.
