Arma 2: Reinforcements Next Month

The Arma II Website announces plans for Arma 2: Reinforcements, an upcoming standalone DLC release for Bohemia Interactive's military first-person shooter (is it Arma, ARMA, ArmA, 2, II? They don't seem to know themselves). The disc will offer both the British Armed Forces and Private Military Company packs which are already available via digital delivery. This is due "exclusively for PC" on April 1st, though it's not clear if this is due outside of Europe, since they only list its price (29.99) in euros. "We´ve received numerous requests from our customers and the community to deliver both expansions on DVD. We´re always trying to deliver something more and here it is, new campaigns, dozens of units all completely standalone to be played solo or to be combined with our other great military simulators into one ultimate pack," says Bohemia Interactive CEO Marek Španěl. "And that’s not forgetting the hundreds of superb community made addons/mods/campaigns which are fully compatible with all versions of our games including Arma 2: Reinforcements."

It is both SP and MP but I think the most fun is to play coop.

It's SP and MP but it's more focused on MP. The MP is mostly PvE/coop. A2 is a poor PvP experience, imo, and the server player counts bear this out.

Here is a little taste of the combination of player mods and custom missions in a PvE setting:

Question to those of you who plays ArmA2 or OA. What kind of joystick would you recommend. I want to grab a joystick to fly the helicopters and not sure what to get. Don't want to spend a fortune on it either, just something cheap that will do the job.

Any recommendations?

I bought this for cheap during the steam sales. I loved op flash but arma2 seems too fiddly to me. op flash seems smoother and less buggy (and that was a hell of a buggy game to being with).

The other rip off code masters one (dragon rising I think) seemed more polished and worked but was a bit too arcadey.

I wish I could merge the two.
Never argue with an idiot. They will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

I get along just fine with a bog standard 360 gamepad, I use it to drive or pilot the vehicles.

If you want an actual stick, any of Saitek's low end offerings do the job just fine, they're cheap as shit too, about 20 to 30 bucks give or take.

I have a wired 360 controller but never thought about plugging it in and use that for ArmA. DOH!
I'll give it a try see how it works if not I'll check out the Saitek joysticks.

Thanks

Allright maybe someone can correct me if I'm wrong but...

http://www.gamersgate.com/DD-ARMA2PMC/arma-2-private-military-company

http://www.gamersgate.com/DD-ARMA2BAF/arma-2-british-armed-forces

It looks to me like each of these is worth $9.00 each.

Now how can they really market both of these combined for $29 Euros which is around $41 dollars or so.

Can anyone explain the madness to me?

I think the magic word here is "stand alone" so you do not need ArmA2 Operation Arrowhead. Form the link you found and on Steam the expansion pack alone which cost $10 each requires you to have Op Arrow.
