Crysis 2 Trailer

A new "Prophet's Journey" trailer (NSFW) from Crysis 2 sets more of the story for Crytek's upcoming first-person shooter sequel by telling the tale of Jacob Hargreave. Word is: "Delve into the shadowy world of Jacob Hargreave – a man who has harboured an obsession with the Nanosuit for most of a century – in this latest trailer 'Prophet’s Journey'." Here's the embedded version.

Many thanks for the "TL;DR" version.

Thing sounds like the original writing of the "story" did not take into account a possible sequel so they had to throw this trash together.

I don't know, he's got an interesting blog, can't blame the guy for taking a pay day on writing a story for a video game.

He talks about the boarder incident and the felony charge against him is based on a technicality.

What constitutes “failure to comply with a lawful command” is open to interpretation. The Prosecution cited several moments within the melee which she claimed constituted “resisting”, but by her own admission I wasn’t charged with any of those things. I was charged only with resisting Beaudry, the guard I’d “choked”. My passenger of that day put the lie to that claim in short order, and the Prosecution wasn’t able to shake that. The Defense pointed out that I wasn’t charged with anything regarding anyone else, and the Prosecution had to concede that too. So what it came down to, ultimately, was those moments after I was repeatedly struck in the face by Beaudry (an event not in dispute, incidentally). After Beaudry had finished whaling on me in the car, and stepped outside, and ordered me out of the vehicle; after I’d complied with that, and was standing motionless beside the car, and Beaudry told me to get on the ground — I just stood there, saying “What is the problem?”, just before Beaudry maced me.

And that, said the Prosecutor in her final remarks — that, right there, was failure to comply. That was enough to convict.

I guess the border guards beat Peter Watts because he wrote such a piece of drivel?

So I played and beat Crysis twice and my response to this story video is still... what?

Pretty much, and to think they paid some guy probably millions of dollars to write this shit and that guy is Peter Watts. His real life adventures sound more interesting than the plot line for this game.

December 2009

Peter Watts, a Canadian citizen, was subject to a beating and arrest by U.S. border guards on Tuesday when he was detained by the aforementioned authorities at the U.S.-Canada border. On top of the beating and pepper spraying that he received, he was additionally charged with “assaulting a federal officer”, a felony rap that carries a mandatory 2 year sentence in a federal prison, if convicted.

I'd love to see the video recording of the incident, but of course they won't release it.

On April 26, 2010 Judge Adair handed down a suspended sentence, and a fine. However, due to immigration laws, Watts' felony conviction prevents him from re-entering the United States

As for the trailer, they should have a huge disclaimer that it's a mishmash of scenes from Crysis and that almost all of it won't be in Crysis 2.

from what I gather though

Profit escaped the island (somehow) but was infected with alien DNA (somehow) and the first Crysis mission on the island was all master planed by this guy Jacob Hargreave who (somehow) knew about the existence of the aliens before anyone else. Now you have to kill him because he's a bad dude.

Crysis aliens remind me of the scrin..

So sometimes when I play crysis, I just pretend I am a commando from C+C and im playing the cancelled game C+C tiberium...

I know, it sounds fucked up, but I do think they had something special with Tiberium.. Was really looking forward to it, as I did enjoy renegade..

Crytek thinks a little too highly of their story for Crysis, they even have a novel out for Crysis 2 and some action figures.

They keep missing the mark when it comes to designing aliens, the flying squid like creatures in Crysis weren't very fun to fight, now they're going with biped aliens with guns *sigh* that look more like robots. I guess nobody can top Giger's design from Alien, even his own after attempts have failed (species).
