I'm willing to bet this is exactly what they've already done. Valve has shown in the past that they'll re-do an entire game if they feel the need--just look at TF2.

And yes, that's not actually based on Portal 2... It's based on the first one, that did just about nothing revolutionary, and was way the hell overhyped : )
