Civilization IV Theme Wins Grammy

The Grammy Awards were held last night to honor the people who create the music for BitTorrent. Along with awards for Lady Gaga, Lady Antebellum, and Lady Godiva, the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences awarded the Grammy for best instrumental arrangement with an accompanying vocalist to Baba Yetu by Christopher Tin. This was composed as the theme song for Sid Meier's Civilization IV, marking the first time a song from a video game has earned such an honor. Ars Technica has explains that this song from a six year old game won a current award because it was included on Tin's 2009 album Calling All Dawns.

Awesome song, but I only like the original and not the duet version played in recent Video Game Live events.

The Civ IV theme song always reminded me of some generic "world music" you would find in the gift shop of some podunk natural history museum.

The proper way to troll people who like the Civ IV theme is by saying Tin ripped off from the Lion King.

Congrats, it is a great song. I am not religious and I love it and I have some super atheist friends who love it too.

The last Muse album sucked balls. Like HARDCORE ball sucking. None of it was quite as bad as that atrocious Supermassive Black Hole bullshit, but it was still all awful.

It was Queen. And it was fucking awesome.

I'll have to check that out when I get home! I don't have cable, but a friend does and we both really like the LfAB show.

Thanks!

I know you like your music edgier, nin, but seeing as you like Arcade Fire, have you heard these guys yet?

The Temper Trap - Sweet Disposition

I only recently came across them from the Live From Abbey Road series. Holy smokes there's some amazing groups in that series I've never heard of untill now. For those who haven't seen this series it's well worth your time if you want to explore some good new music out there.

Live From Abbey Road
"Van Gogh painted alone and in despair and in madness and sold one picture in his entire life. Millions struggled alone, unrecognized, and struggled as heroically as any famous hero. Was it worthless? I knew it wasn't."

Hi Blue, it's the theme to Civ IV, not V.

Yeah, thanks. Sorry about that. The typo was corrected immediately, but your comment showed up one minute after the post!
