they should make both the enemies and the game itself unbeatable.. that would be horrifying to discover - or maybe just annoying as shit

I disagree. Silent Hill does need combat, but it can't be very effective. It has to feel like a last resort, which isn't to say it has to be clunky or no fun.

Also breakable melee weapons is a horrible mechanic.

Yeah, the boss fights seem really out of place. On the one hand, they're trying to take the focus away from combat by only allowing you to carry one weapon at a time, having the weapon deteriorate with use and making enemies stronger. On the other hand, they force you to fight bosses with QTEs?

They should just remove combat entirely.

First details of the game reveal a town so vast that it needs a Subway system to explore, with areas that include the never-before-seen Southeastern side of Silent Hill

Neat, Konami finally listened to everyone that has wanted a complete version of Silent Hill in one of the games.

The only mandatory fights are boss battles, which take the form of quick-time-events.

Aaaaand, it's ruined.
