Does anyone know why "Vampire the Masquerade - Bloodlines" never goes on sale? I'd love to gift it for $4.99 or less, but $19.99 for a 6 year old game that probably won't be played isn't going to happen.

VtMB is an awesome game, well worth $19.99. Stop being so cheap. As for why it doesn't go on sale, maybe it's too obscure? Or maybe it's somehow selling consistently enough that it doesn't need to go on sale? Remember that the game is a cult classic and is pretty hard to find below $50 anywhere else, even on eBay.

Punkbuster + BF2 + Steam = frustration for me so it isn't surprising that it's also annoying with BC2. Disabling Steam Community in game fixed most of the problems.

My guess is that it has something to do with Troika being gone, but surely other games from dead developers go on sale too.

Pretty much guaranteed it's punkbuster acting up if you're getting DC'd shortly after joining a server. Go there, download pbsetup and run it to update PB out of the game and it should fix the problem.

Just great, I bought King Arthur yesterday on steam when it was 50% now it's discounted even higher. WTF!? So now for half of what I paid for just the base game, you get it and all the DLCs. GRRR!

That is the reason why I only buy daily deals at the beginning, the rest follows at the very last day of the holiday sales.

Oh good question. Not sure! I always played it at 1920x1200 (native and 3d res) because otherwise it looks blurry/terrible on my lcd. If bugs were your concern, I think they fixed a whole lot of them.
Cool. Yeah, I have a 19" LCD monitor so 1280x1024 is my native resolution. Yes, the bugs were very annoying! I had to restart the game a few times because of them!

Yes. I got the $12.50 bundle on amazon last night and played it for about four hours. Had a blast. Great game even though it's PvE against often brain dead bots.

I suggest you have a 1GB vid card. Well, on my 4870/512 the game performed badly no matter what I did but on my 5870 it's good. You'll need to download the patch for each game if you get it on amazon.

I'm a little puzzled that Arma 2 is discounted heavily on Steam but they chose not to discount the expansion or gold pack to the same extent. People say having Operation Arrowhead is pretty much a requirement for a lot of servers and mods. And before anyone asks, I live outside North America so the Amazon deal is worthless to me. If the combined pack had been 12.5$ on Steam, I would have picked it up in a heartbeat. But I don't think having to pay 30$ to get the full game is any sort of deal, and selling just the older part for 10$ is silly.

It's still debatable whether it's "playable" depending on your definition. It still has bugs, gamebreaking ones at that. I couldn't finish the basic training because I kept getting instructors stuck in a loop. Particularly, the shooting range, I didn't even get a chance to fire a round before he declared that I'd failed, then he'd ask if I wanted to try again, then he'd declare that I failed before I even responded. Over and over until I just quit the training and started a mission instead.

That said, the mission worked fine. The feel of the game is still sorely lacking and the 'training' I did manage to get working was a terrible experience that explained NOTHING. Why even bother having a tutorial if the player needs to keep looking up keyboard commands in a manual or in the configuration just to complete said tutorials?

BI certainly know the subject matter, and they know how to make a powerful sandbox engine, but they don't know squat about how to make a 'game'.

Eventually I may take the time to teach myself how to play this game, but right now there's so much else out there from companies that actually have their shit together that this can sit on the shelf and wait. Kind of disappointed I even spent $10 on it.

There have been quite a few upgrades since launch, though, so maybe it will be more to your liking. Friend me in Steam and the game is on me.
Sounds good to me. Thanks!

Decided to grab the new demo for ARMA II:Operation Arrowhead and it is much more polished than the old demo was. Think I will be grabbing that Amazon deal.
I was reading a post about the DLC and they recommended if you bought from Amazon/(non-steam) that you could buy the DLC directly from Bohemia Interactive at http://store.bistudio.com/

Also the expansions/DLC for Arma 2 is totally worth it. All of that plus some of the major mods people have come out with make it the best military shooter in existence by far. Plus creating your own missions is pretty simple and fun.

Thanks SirKnight. How can I buy the DLC for the Amazon version of Combined Operations? I don't see any of them up there. The Steam DLC requires the Steam version of the games. TIA

I think you have to get them from the sprocket download service. There should be a link to it on arma2.com if I remember correctly.
