Thanks for input spin. Going to get it then. (not that i need more games....been playing the humble indie bundle all mornin while making my 2nd batch of chili and 3 loaves on banana bread)

Sega removed the game's online activation requirement in a patch a few weeks ago. When I had played the game, this patch was not available on Steam yet, so I had to download it separately and patch the game (which worked fine btw). When you run the game for the first time, if it asks for online activation, that means Steam has still not patched it and you will have to download it separately. Amongst other bug fixes, one of the things this patch does is remove copy protection from the game. Basically, if you are ever asked for your cd key, you are running an older version and you need to patch it. If you do need to download it yourself, get the EU/Digital Patch which is the one that will work with the Steam version.

After that there are a bunch of .cfg tweaks and stuff you'll need to look into to fix performance issues, sound issues, graphics issues and what not.

I broke something....now the game doesn't work....whoops.

I remember reading about King Arthur a while back and that it had some serious balance issues, with archers being able to pretty much destroy everyone, IIRC. Did that stuff get fixed? Is it fun to play now?

Yes those are great deals. Almost bought Bioshock 2 until I was reminded that it requires GFWL and uses securom activation.

I almost bought it until I remembered I never finished the first one, which I bought on sale two years ago. Now that I know it uses securom activation, I definitely won't be getting it.

Edit: Apparently the amazon downloader doesn't patch games. FYI.

It looks like it downloads what is essentially the contents of the game disk. I don't know about other games, but the retail patch works on ArmA2.

Hmm... A (not-so-)short list of downloadable games I've bought in the last couple of weeks

I managed to control my impulse buying of games on sale this year unlike last year. Each time I was tempted to buy a game, I reminded myself about the games I've bought on sale that I haven't played yet.

So far I've only bought:
Battlefield BC2 (Steam)
ArmA 2: Combined Ops (Amazon)
Humbe Indie Bundle #2

That was xmas sales. For Thanksgiving/black Friday I bought:
Monkey Island 2 Special Edition: LeChuck's Revenge
Monkey Island Complete Pack

Yeah AP is worth $7.50 (right now). Is there a way to increase the FOV?? I can't see how they tested the game without that not driving them insane.

Worth it for 7.5$. It is a severely flawed game but it did keep me interested enough for a full playthrough (about 15 hours). There are a couple of things it does exceptionally well, namely how your choices have consequences and how they shape the story differently. Almost everything you do in the game will have an impact on the way the plot moves forward. Apart from this though, everything else in the game is pretty mediocre or just downright broken.

Alpha Protocol is like a less futuristic Deus Ex (iffy combat and all). It isn't as bad as has been made out to be by some, but it is far from how good it could and should have been. Easily worth 7.50 imho though.

Wings of Prey is a wonderful less "sim-ish" version of IL-2 Sturmovich/Pacific Fighters, perfect for those who want a less "anal" flight sim.

I must confess as I was browsing I was startled to see this piece of crapola (HL2 Source) sells for $9.99. It was so completely pointless when first released, did they ever actually make it worthwhile?

Speaking of worthwhile I noticed that operation flashpoint: dragon rising is $3 on steam, I know its been kicked around a lot here but still not work it?

I got it solely for the High Definition mods on www.moddb.com. I used to think the Black Mesa mod would scratch that particular itch, but I got tired of waiting for it (though I do expect it to be part of an OrangeBox-like bundle in the near future).
