I did MrsBlue the favor of polishing a copper cookie cutter this morning, as my stubborn streak makes me the go-to guy for tedious clean-up chores here in the BlueTower. I got that little gingerbread shape into near new cleanliness thanks to a little copper cleanser and a lot of elbow grease, but I am now paying the price. It turns out it is far easier to get tarnish off of copper than it is to get the copper smell off your hands when you are done, and at this point the odor is becoming nauseous. I think the next time I get roped into that chore I will be wearing some serious gloves, if not a hazmat suit. Blech.

Scrub your hands with some toothpaste.
Sounds weird as hell but it works for taking smells out. Works with onions and garlic after a day of cooking, too.
I was thinking he could let a skunk spray his hands, and then not only would they not smell like copper any more, but we'd get another HtWD story out of this.

Let it sit in some white vinegar overnight then rinse in water the next morning. If you use some tongs, you have no smelly fingers. If you dump a little baking powder down the drain before you dump the used white vinegar, it'll also help clean your drain pipes.

Use lemon juice next time, it's cheap, easy, makes everything smell lemony and does just as good of a job as chemical cleaners.

i guess its not common sense to use gloves when cleaning oxidized metals with abrasive chemicals?
Nausea is good, when you throw up on your hands they won't smell like copper anymore.
